I am new here so I'm not so sure where to post stuff yet!

I am trying to set up the old T16 card on a windows ME system but it wont install the driver for the card. There is a problem with the MMDEVLDR.VXD device loader.

anyone know of this kind of problem?

probably that driver itself is messed up or corrupted - just google for it and you see lots of people have similiar problems - with all brands of soundcards.

Before you try a new install, be sure ALL traces of the failed attempt are removed (and replace MMDEVLDR with a fresh copy)
It may be difficult to do this without re-installing Windows, tho.

And do not fiddle with the drivers of the card.
Do NOT touch that mysterious jumper under no circumstances and NEVER try to use Sonorus drivers (they are the original manufacturer).

There seems to be a chance that the identification eeprom gets overwritten which renders the card absolutely useless. As useless as a blank flashed BIOS.

At least I got this impression from my TDAT16, when I couldn't wait for a new mobo as a (known) problem with a certain chipset showed up... I did all the nonsense above and ended with a dead card
Possibly it was just bad luck and a coincidence of fiddling with failure, but one never knows.

good luck, Tom

Thanks,

happily we havent played with any of that stuff! we are begining to suspect that it might be that the chipset on the motherboard (ABIT KU8) just isnt compatible with the T16 card.

I am getting a new AGP graphics card tommorrow to see if the current PCI graphics card is messing with the PCI info etc. Its really frustrating! It was working in a rubbish old dell not so long ago and now that I want to upgrade the processing power of the system it wont work.

that is not unlikely - in my case it was also an AMD chipset with a similiar number.
Very unpleasant because it had a great data throughput compared to the VIA KT sh*t.

I'd rather put it in an Intel box. The ASUS Tusl2-c is almost overpraised recently
A couple of months back I bought a set of mobo, graphcard, cpu, ram for 70 Euro.

cheers, Tom

We tried a different and slightly older mobo and it is all working wonderfully now.
