Hum, it's for shure no usual clock problem.
I use a Mindprint Ad/da as master, pulsar 3.0 as slave and as source a rode Ntk valve mic with Spl track one chanel strip.

I never heard such things with other syncs like other computers synced to pulsar with s/pdif. but...

It's pretty annoying on vocals, these clicks are like little triangles on the wave, it seems to appear without a particular reason.

has someone experienced loosy ad/da?

I sometimes have this problem. If I turn the sp/dif source on and off one or two times it usually stops.

My experience with AD/DA noises was:-

"Using a Fostex VC-9 and Pulsar II you get very low volume high frequency crackles (a bit like scrunching the plastic wrapper from a cig packet) and some degradation in overall sound quality from converters when VC-8 is clock master. If you set the Pulsar II as master the difference is quite noticeable with no crackles and better sound"

Cured a lot for me

is there a way to receive a s/pdif signal in Pulsar I wenn pulsar is master? I couldn't yet.

SO it makes it tricky to change my sync order... it's a usual thing for other cards and converters to free define the slave and the master!

hum...

Almost positive this is impossible with PulsarI hardware, as that deviates from the SPDIF specification. Pulsar2 has a clever workaround to allow this, as does Luna2. You can also chain one of those cards together with your current card, and Luna2's are relatively cheap, if this is something you really have to do.

When you start getting a more complex setup, the only way to go is WordClock Sync, in my opinion... of course you usually pay more for devices with this feature, but in the end if it saves you hours of clocking nightmares then you could come out ahead by instead making music during that time. Just one more thought.
