here are some ideas i think interesting when it comes to the future of creamware (as pci express arrives and laptops become more popular):
1) A RACK : I think that creamware could create a small rack (like magma pci expansion) dedicated to the pci cards will all have. For example this rack (allowing to slot 3 creamware cards) could afford a firewire connection. If the price were good (cheaper than magma !), i am sure that 1) it would keep the pci cards alive for years 2) many owners would buy this item sooner or later...for a laptop or for a new computer.
2) A MASTER KEYBOARD : we all need a keybord... as creamware users are proud of their products (it is very weel known, quite cultural), i am sure that we would probably buy a creamware keyboard. This item would increase the popularity of the brand and would afford special features for mixers, synth....
my ideas for creamware development

Something a lot cheaper than Magma!!!
Magma is exagerate because is the only choice on market.
A sort of compatible external pci-firewire box could becomes a best seller because different users: Creamware, Uad, Digidesign, etc.
Obviously, the low latency feature becomes a secondary importance versus the feature of portability! Guarantee!
then go ahead and build itOn 2005-10-13 04:24, erminardi wrote:

a PCI bus isn't a printer interface in a slot, it's a bit more demanding.
you'll have to pay people for custom circuit design, there's mechanical work to do, you'll have to pre-manufacture (and finance!) a certain number of units, you'll have to pay legal fees for electrical certification (alone the HF test could cost a 5 figure value)...
all this for fewer prospective customers than Magma
you will not sell one single unit into the pro segment unless YOU can guarantee reliability and service
cheers, Tom
may I direct you to the prices of online shops...On 2005-10-13 02:05, bill3107 wrote:

... where you can find an 88 key hammer action thing for 398 Euro

so, WHAT do you want to sell ?
btw the very, very first Scope designs included a keyboard and a (touch?)screen, looking a bit like a tiny Wave.
probably never made it to market due to high production costs, the same that is said to have killed the Wave and the rest of Waldorf...
sorry for being negative, Tom

also... dejavu? Wasn't the keyboard the Noah that was supposed to take all the creatures two by two regardless of their diversity in sexual orientation, and land on top of some sort of mountain after hurricane Katrina?
What turned me off the most about Noah was that it didn't have a piano or even an ep preset. What kind of a keyboard player would buy a keyboard without the two most important piano sounds? heh.. Beats me. I have a yamaha p-250 and now CW has to beat it. And a nord electro on top of that. Nobody wants an expensive flagship keyboard that does only VAs, there are too many cheapers synths that do it just fine.
But I totally agree, I would have LOVED to see a good keyboard come from CW.

I really liked the blue camoflauged Noah. I would have bought Noah, but when I see a product released, and only comes in rackmount first, I'm reluctant. EMU, and others used that trick to test the waters, after showing keyboard versions. From my experience when the promise of KB version second, usually means only one phase of production, unless they sell like crazy.
