Studio to Go

Forgive me if I'm repeating something already posted.....couldn't find it....

Is this the sort of package Creamware users might LOVE....IF it became compatible....all the benefits of Linux, Creamware AND the VST integration some desire. http://www.ferventsoftware.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=56

I'm excited..........such INTEGRATION....saw this some time ago but it's now well advanced. Any hope for Creamware and "Studio to Go" to talk to eachother?

Interesting concept and nice price. The bootable CD is going to take a long time to boot. I would rather install it on a Linux partition. So this thing seems to be able to load VSTi from your Windows partition. Am I correct? That is unusual. They didn't state this but I am going to assume the advantage is better performance and stability. Too bad there is no demo. I'll wait until other people use it fist.

Sounds kind of like AGNULA. Of course, the main difference being that Agnula's free.

THAT is a lot of money for bundling (and a little configuring) Open Source stuff.

part of the small print:
...Fervent also cannot guarantee email support for the alternative version 2.4 Linux kernel included with Studio to Go!, and guaranteed email support ends when Studio to Go! is installed to hard disk.

btw what's the deal about loading something from another partion - that's just a disk operation ?

It's not at strange. For media codecs, this is very common: just drop some realplayer codec or other in some folder and will be available for the player. Somehow it feeds the dll the stream, and reads it output again. So now they made it for VST-plugins too... I'll wait untill they release it under GNU for Demudi

I didn't know that loading a dll from another operating system is no big deal.

That is indeed questionable since all Windows XP versions use the NTFS file system which is not supposed to be accessible without a user/password configuration.

FAT32 works just fine with WindowsXP, and depending on the permissions, most files on NTFS should be accessible just fine from Linux without needing much of a login/password.
