Been VERY busy these days. Espcially on finishing some Thalamus songs, my own projects and filmmusic.

This is a kind a old fellow, in new clothes.

P.S. I know about the random clicks (the ones not put their upon my will...hehe!) And..I'm Still working on the transition from the jam part to the last chorus and the outro in general.

For thoose interested, the intro sound is a FLEXOR filthered fender rhodes. I love this tool.

Another inspiring track! Congrats on this one, real nice work on the textures and colors!

I feel like the chorus could take off more with some kind of a wall of sound coming to back it up. Maybe that's not what you're after, but this homecoming could be propelled pretty high (and still retain its particular vibe). As it is, the chorus seems quieter than the verses and imo it counteracts the uplifting potential in both music and lyrics (in the chorus).

Pretty good as it is anyway, as always with your work! Keep it up!

Opinion: I also felt the chorus could have lifted a little more, initially. But when I sat with it, I felt it showed a tasteful light touch.

I thought the chorus could have been louder. This is the best Thalamus I have heard. I loved that you got some vocal harmony in there. It's beautiful. In fact it is so beautiful that it might benefit from something ugly, twisted, dissonant or discordant in there.

thx for dropping by, folks. I'm glad you appreciate the hard work behind this work, espescially on the textures.

It seems like I have to go inside the chorus again to have a look. Though I don't really like the "disney" effect in the first version ( http://www.planetz.com/Pulsar/files/mus ... 20Home.mp3 ), where everything obivously leads upto the chorus and say, go...go...gooooo...liftooooffff. It works, but kinda boring in my opinion. Maybe theres a middle way, I like the new, almost to my ears, chinese atmosphere, of the chorus.

Mostly, I'm worried about the jam part before last chorus, if it's too "arty-farty" and ruins the beatiful image.

"This is the best Thalamus I have heard". Wow, that a great compliment, and har to live up to. thanks braincell. I like to take it to something ugly, but maybe for a remix? (wanna try?). I think for now, the song in its whole is a great history in sounds, that glues well together, and preserves the atmosphere.

If you're gonna go back in........

Suggestion: Back off on the bass tracks in the intro/verse. Maybe less sub bass, a little less of everything thats adding the body and punch. Just soften it off...touch of wah. Then build it back in for the chorus. Less is more. That'll add dynamic variation, lifting the chorus without cluttering.

If you wanna lift the chorus further.....Maybe a male voice harmonising would help the chorus. Counterpoint, or even an ethnic riff in available soundspace if you want to add tension.

Please note: I can't DO anything of this quality. This is just my opinion.

PS: I didn't find the "jam" section arty farty. Seemed to fit the song for me....

This is really beautiful and inventive. You have really achieved a distinctive Thalamus-sound. Great beat's and beautiful harmonies, and as always a great production.

There's one thing about this track I don't like though, and that's the vocoder/autotuning effect at 0'40. It's skillfully performed, but I really don't like this effect in any song. This is propably a personal taste, but it sounds cheap in my ears. I had to be honest about this, I hope it's ok

I really liked everything else!

Just another thought: If it suits you, try moving the bass forward of the beat in the verse, then back to behind the beat in the chorus. That'll make the chorus stand up more. Moving some of the other layers forward in the verse may help also.
