Check out this Dell 2u rack >>>

I'm wondering if this Poweredge rack server could be a nice portable solution for Scope cards.

There may be some issues with OS compatability??

There may also be some issues with space for cards ??

or....no' of pci card limitations based on the PCI implementation??

Do any of you have one of these or another (say,.. 1u variant) running CW cards & SFP ??

the specs say 3 PCI-X slots 3.3V, so it's the same as with the G5 - does not compute...
Aside from that those server boxes are noisy as hell and all features that define the price are pretty useless on a DAW (imho).

cheers, Tom

Think you're right
Reckon a slightly older, high spec, board in a 'silent rack' or 'acousti-case' would be easier on the pocket & more suitable for the CW cards.

Dell's prices are fantastic for some of their systems at the moment because they're giving away free second xeon's on selected units.
That was one of the attractions:- a FREE Xeon

mmm
