One odd thing that I noticed (and did something about this time) is that the left and right channels got switched at some point. I think it's when I did an "Export Audio Mixdown.." from Cubase, but I need to check. It was simple enough to switch them back again, but I need to work out why this is happening (and check to see if the other tunes I've posted suffer from the same problem!)

This is a first mix...just finished the last bits of guitar this morning but may try to improve those. Not mastered as yet.

Let me know what you think

edit: update to the tune - bass line's changed quite a bit, the drums are a bit snappier and I've replaced the brass section with a muted trumpet which fits the mood better.

I'll download in the morning but I've had a similar odd thing happen re stereo switching.
I pinned mine down to Pulsar project.
A track started off with the Asio as 2 inputs 16 and I ran out of tracks so I changed to the Asio 2/32 and the stereo was opposite. Have you changed your project mid track?

Hey CP, well choosen 'whispering' synths, they combine very musical with the nice guitars
I would just make the bassdrum part less sincopated, or restrict it to certain parts where they fit best.
They eat to much attention from the easy flow, but you may think different about that

Hi Royston,
First to clarify the stereo problem I had.
I wasn't near my music pc when I posted last night:
It was when I changed from Asio 2 16 Source to Asio 2 32 Source that I noticed the stereo had changed sides.

Onto the track - really nice guitar work and some nice sounding synths in there. As it is not the final mix my only comment would be that I didn't feel as if the patch/instrument used for filler notes around the 1:45 mark fitted in with the other moodier sounds (and again around the 3:38 mark). Perhaps something with a bit more warmth and body would lift it a bit.
Nice track though - look forward to the final version

Cheers guys!

LE: any suggestions as to how to crunch the drums a bit?

Hubird: yes, I agree...after a while I find the bass drum/bass combo somewhat lifeless and tiring...to have them 'tight' here and there makes sense, but not all the way through (I'll work on that one)

Neil: I guess you're referring to the 'brass' section  I'm not terribly happy with that at the moment, will try to add some expression/modulation to see if that improves matters. Or borrow Hubird's trumpet

BTW, I got the 'uses...' bit wrong when I posted. This is what's used in the track:

bass & swept arpeg: Minimax
drums: NI studio kit
first pick guitar: PSA-1
all other guitar: POD
'swishy' sound (near beginning): 'custom' MODIII patch
ALL other synths: Ravity
'verb: Anwida DX Reverb
