I woke up in the middle of the night and played this for the first time and I have to bow down to you for what you have created. It is original, interesting, rhythmic and has sonic clarity. I marvel at how you have achieved something complex and busy yet minimal at the same time.

On the technical side, I wonder what the sound which is like a distorted guitar is?

Firstly thank you for your kind words.
The guitar-like sound was acheived by routing that main Synth loop back through a heavy gate with an Amp Sim in series.
I did this using GarageBand - I have been using it to make interesting loops, timestretching and beat adjusting and then importing them into Cubase.
