I really hope your laptop w/ the Win XP installation isn´t a mess.
It might be wrong,- but I´ve read, today it´s impossible to activate a legal copy of WinXP when setting up all new.

I´m typing from my head in my office always,- no gear nearby, no NoahEX.

So, if I understand correctly, Noah Remote Editor software is uninstalled now,- right ?
Just the drivers are left over ...

Did you go into WinXP device manager,- I guess,- audio/video/ game controllers ... and had a look for ...

I was running Noah last night in multimode in to my Scope system...4 devices all running and outputting ok thru the Noah Mixer as displayed in XP ...then suddenly the mixer went blank but Noah was still outputting on 4 busses.

AFAIK,- "Found New Hardware wizard" appears when OS is looking for drivers.

Noah hardware OS version should appear in Noah´s display too.
ATM I´m unsure if it will appear when powering up Noah or if there was/is a menu diving necessary,- so please check yourself and double check if that´s the ...

No, it's because the USB bridge chip obscures the SSD's native internal controller, whether NVMe or SATA. Sorry that wasn't clear in my above post.

The issue is, WHEN the SSD (p.x. Crucial MX500, SATA600) is external, Win10 Pro recognizes as HDD.
As the result, Windows trim/ drive optimization doesn´t work anymore.

It´s crap w/ laptop and when you have your sample libraries etc. on ext. drive.

Which Utility do you use for SSD trim when running XP ?
And I´ve found more issues,- also under Win 7 and 10.
P.ex.,- once the SSD is in a external enclosure using USB3 controller, the drive is recognized as HDD.
So,- p.ex. using Piriform Defragler, normaly recognizing what´s a HDD and what not ...

Also note I'm not taking you to task or saying you're wrong in your experiences, but it's worth keeping the record accurate here for others.

You can do an in place upgrade on windows 11 now btw. Install from right within windows without even loading the ISO onto a thumb drive.


On my laptops w/ TPM 1.2 Windows update reported the machine not matching ...

updates are only needed for internet security. if you aren't browsing the net, you can use win10 until your software no longer supports win10.

But, p.ex. Steinberg, NI (and other´s) system requirements are 'Win10 64Bit 22H2 and/or Win11 22H2 - latest service pack ...

I have hardware TMP 1.2 chips in each of the 2 laptops and Win 11 was stuck w/ version 21H2 and stopped receiving updates.

It´s better running Win10 22H2 w/everything updated, ai least until it also stops receiving updates.
There´s always some native stuff running in harmony on my Scope machines ...

I´m back to Win10 Pro x64 on 2 laptops now,- both are for audio/MIDI.
One laptop w/ RME Babyface, the other SCOPE/XITE.
I make a all new Scope setup which isn´t finished not just yet.
But I´m pretty sure it will be better because going back to Win10 by performing a fresh install on a ...

I also thought,- when I don´t have ASIO modules in a project and use SCOPE standalone,- there is no ASIO in the ballpark.
So, if it is,- like you explain above,- wouldn´t it be a better solution leaving SCOPE ASIO installation to be a user´s decision?
In other words,- WHY are we forced to install ...

the STS problem is because STS uses system memory. there, 64bit makes a difference. but in the Z-Link case, Window has zero involvement.

Scope itself is a 32bit application.


At least on XITE-1,- it should be possible upgrading STS 1000, 2000 & 3000 to use local RAM.
