Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
All these scope FM devices are good for sound experiments with it's easy control. But if you are a music producer, it is necessary to have good presets to play with. And these presets are missing in all these devices. And at the end they never Sound like a DX7 from yamaha. If you don't have the original you will never experience the big difference. BTW the DX7ii has 16 voices. No need for an xite who is cheaper? Scope is a great Plattform, but it is not a god device, can't replace everything. I really wonder how arturia did that great DX7 vst Instrument, easy to use and a great Sound.
out and about for music production. Are you still configguring your Studio music first!
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
this is the dx7 S of a friend. Been there in its flight-case for months now. it can be used for live and for production. But it wheights a ton, the pitch bend wheel must be repaired, the sound output is noisy and weak (eventhough the DX7S is 16bits, while DX7 is 12, so noise is lless present on the S version).... would need some modern output magic... no CV input for KrOn neither... useless!! Still, a proper and functionning DX7S.
The Native Instrument FM7 1 was pretty cool, I miss it compared to FM8... but I think Arturia's is quite the thing in terms of model.
You could also get this overpriced module: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=403RuVSYYWQ
definitely not for the polyphonic DX E-Piano famous type of sounds....
The DX Reface was pretty cool (I had a DX100 back in the days, the reface is like a cool update).
Scope still offers a lot in the synth area compared to all the availlable hardware. Some are really worth re-discovering (at least not to buy unecessary hardware) Not everything but still better than many things. Still worth it even 20 years after its original release.... not too bad for a computer product
I opened the flight-case for the picture really... back into it until the friend claims it back... "see you in a few months may be dx7s".The Native Instrument FM7 1 was pretty cool, I miss it compared to FM8... but I think Arturia's is quite the thing in terms of model.

This is the one upside to my musical side, that musical tools often remain musical regardless of age. On my graphical side, it's a constant stream of upgrades and updates whether I want them or not, for I must be compatible with the world I interact with. Were it not for music, I would simply be reduced an income stream for Adobe, Intel, Nvidia & AMD.
Glad you're still at it spacef!

And which scope synth is closer to YAMAHA DX 5 ?
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
cz oscillators, fm operator, modulation synthesis oscillator, tube resonator, waldorf and wavetable oscillator, all available inside the modular shell, all you need is basic knowledge of fm and phase modulation synthesis, demo patches are available if you look inside the modular folders. Also for 80's sound we have protone, Jb Pro one, minimax, prodyssey and more... i think it's very important to play a proper sequence to obtain the right atmosphere. Can't believe we are almost at the end of 2018 and still people don't know how powerful is scope and GAS syndrome wins.

Even if am not familiar enough with FM synthesis... I can tell that modular2 is getting me even closer to the results I want... the FM operators and the different combinations are all there... and modular 2 seems really powerful... but it needs some time...djmicron wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 6:04 pm cz oscillators, fm operator, modulation synthesis oscillator, tube resonator, waldorf and wavetable oscillator, all available inside the modular shell, all you need is basic knowledge of fm and phase modulation synthesis, demo patches are available if you look inside the modular folders. Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
i'm trying to make another FM synth in xite to test polyphony but it crashes.
I use synths as mono synths, less frustration... that's why paraphony is great for scope.
On the pics, That's approx 3 oscillators from Spirit synth.
no idea how it sounds yet.... but voicing = 1 only.

Why does it crash? Win10 etc?
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
don't know, may be just because of the sdk, or the way the device is made.
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
Now there’s something Id like to try out.
I’m lacking a real FM Synth.
Plenty of old samples which captures FM pretty well.
But need motion and parameter modulation.
Looking forward to an XITE-1 FM.

Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
xite does not have the yamaha fm chip
can "only" do stuff like this (not sure how the other FM synths sound though).
thanks for the soundcloud plugin!
(drum machine = kick, snare, hats. All the rest is 1 FMZ).

The DAS F07 is DSP light. For Native, the best is the Reason PX7 - which is patch compatible with the original, comes with all the patches of the original ROMS, and has an online converter to convert other patches from the original. It also has the addition of a friendly envelope & is CPU light. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiJ5cdlV34E
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
In the earlier versions there was a fm synth called fm one. It sounded really good and was also very flexible. Unfortunately, he is no longer compatible with the software.
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
Dante, that PX7 looks very cool.
Anyway, saw this link and thought it might be of interest
https://www.audiobombs.com/items/1061/d ... -for-dexed
Outside of Scope I use Tranzistow as it has an fm engine and the dev has about 35000 DX7 presets converted over for it which is a reasonable amount to keep me busy
Cheers

Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
On the Nord Modular G2 hardware, someone created a standard "DX7" patch, and then someone else wrote a program to convert all real DX7 patches into Nord presents for the DX7 patch (some 40-50 thousand patches!)
I'd think the same could be done on SCOPE Modular?

Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
Dune 3 is out now - it has FM as a oscillator source - not sure if Dune 2 did - but if you don't have FM yet and/or are looking to buy something new anyway....
Re: Which scope synth is the closest to Yamaha DX7?
For brass and pianos FeeMee is a really decent DX type of FM.

Check out the new Bitley refill - TX816 emulation based on PX7 - https://youtu.be/4EJ8OJbe1Xc

Didn´t know all those native softsynths mentioned here were made for and ran inside SCOPE.
