Hi,

I'm just wondering does the 2448 desk have stereo sends or do you have to use 2 mono sends to supply a stereo signal to a processor.

Regards

No. You would heave to use 2 mono sends. But why would you want to do this? You could just tap off the input to the mixer and bring it back on another stereo channel.

Hi,

I'm not quite sure what you're saying, if I tapped off of the inputs how would I control the amount being sent to the effects?

Labman, I guess Bassdude means you can connect the same (mono) send to both inputs of the effect...
It's not that important to have stereo sends, in the real world sends are always mono.
If you have a very very stereo sounding signal, say one sound left and another on the right, a full-stereo reverb for instance could benefit from this (stereo-IN).
The left early reflexions from the left sound would then be build up faster then the ones from the right side, and identical for the right side.
This could be important in a film, let's say in a church f.i., but in music hmm, I don't need it.
Concerning insert effects however I sometimes would like to have a stereo version of some typical mono effects (like autopanner, distortion, some filters).
After all, with an insert effect, the signal as a whole is routed through the effect, where a send signal is just a part of the total result, so the stereo image stays intact.
I know you didn't ask for this...

You can create your own stereo aux's by adding a MicroMixer and link the pan controls via midi controllers...

FX like delays actually don't work very well with stereo-sends..

You cannot get a good ping-pong effect with both channels connected..

the biggest problem is the high likelyhood of phase cancellation with so many stereo sources.........

What I meant was to tap from the inputs of the 2448 mixer (where you connect the source) eg get a micro mixer or dynamixer and send its L/R output to the stereo effect you want to use (make sure the effect is set to wet only and no dry getting thru) and then send the effects' L/R output to the 2448 mix bus output or back into a stereo input channel. Then make a connection from each input of the 2448 mixer, that you want to send to the effect, to the micro/dynamixer inputs. In effect you have a stereo aux tapped at the input and not post eq/gain etc etc on the 2448 mixer. Don't forget to set the panning appropriately on the micro/dynamixer. There are all sorts of different ways you can do it.
