Thanks for the links!

The way I use a WAV-2-MIDI program is to process a sound effect. Play the sound effect through one of these programs and you get MIDI notes which you can assign to a "real" instrument. The results are more than likely to be contemporary classical sounding but for those of you who do techno it can be a very interesting way to find melodic lines.

Shot in the dark here but there are some wav to rmf converters out there, Beatnik for one. Couldn't that do the job on MAC?
