Hi all,

Was just playing around with my Vectron using the Wave Extractor. I decided to work out how to use the thing and I opened up the manual and had a bit of a look.

This is a pretty cool device I think. I sometimes wonder why I don't get a hell of a lot more usage out of it.

Does anyone else use Vectron? Is it an under rated gem?

Caleb, I think you're right: it's much underrated due to the presets of it's smaller player bro.
Most are watered with the same ugly (imho) chorus delay combi fx.
I haven't had enough time to really play with it, but it can be great sounding with additional controllers and modulations assigned.
It has a vast potential in the let's say typical Korg Wavestaion pad area, but I haven't touched own wavetable generation yet. I once wanted to sample my Casios with it...

cheers, Tom

I'd love to get Vectron. The price is a bit steep, but I really want to be able to load in my own wavetables. Right now I can only load wavetables into the STS sampler, which is OK (especially when I layer detuned waveforms together), but there really isn't all that much I can do in the STS. With Vetron I could really go to town with wavetables.

With Solaris, Vectron, ModIII, STS, and Six-String, SFP has just about every kind of synthesis covered except for a really hot FM synth. But to do that they'd need to make something that can topple the FM7, and that might take too much DSP power.

Yes, I think it's an under rated gem ...

There are sooo many ways to explore those 4 boring corners !

yeah decimator, exactly that is the problem: the XY pad gets so much attention that the rest of the synth with it's modulation possibilities simply is overlooked.
I guess you judge this from the player - there's much more 'behind the curtain'

cheers, Tom

No, No, Astroman , I've got the whole thing !

But in the first time I fell in love with the player ...

Indeed, there's a lot behind the curtain !

While we're on gems, I've also bought Python Pro ...

me too
fully agree that it qualifies as a true gem !
did you notice that the Hartman Neuron uses a very similiar sound engine ?
They call it Resynator, built of an oscillating - resonating part (Scape/Sphere).
2 of them are interconnected by a mix and modulation unit called Blender.
With more DSPs I'd like to set this up by 2 Python instances feeding a Mod III patch

cheers, Tom

You know, my favourite part of modular (i have mod2, not even modIII) is what you can do with various FM techniques.
Well, just my picky .02

Ooops and ahem !! I don't remember very well what the Neuron is made and capable of ...

But if you say so, yes I noticed !

On this subject, I'd like more devs to think of brain power before horse power, Python Pro is really clever and I hope it will initiate some challenges among devs !!

Sorry folks for the thread hijack !
