I am first time in this forum,and I think that forum is great.
Here is my problem:I want to join to creamware products family,but I have very hard decision to make-I cannot afford pulsar 2,I can just afford Luna 2.So,is there some difference in sound quality of those cards?I know that with pulsar come large range of software synths,mixers etc..and that it has 6 dsp instead of luna's 3 dsp.Is LUNA 2 just another "LIGHT EDITION"of Pulsar?
I want to make instrumental music,and to record mainly keyboards.In addition,I will record some guitars,saxophone with mic.Can you tell me something more about DSP,I searched this forum and found that Luna 3 dsp is not much.Is there a chance to make other synths work properly by assigning them to use computer resources?I don't know much about dsp's-so please help me about that.
I am located in Serbia and Montenegro(ex Yugoslavia),and we are not rich country.I have just one shot,so please,aware me of some bugs,errors,if any.Sound quality is main thing that I want from audio card.

Hello and welcome to Planet Z, the coolest place to be!

I have Luna2, Pulsar2 and PlusarXTC ,using them all together. To me, there is no difference in sound quality.
And yes, you can do recording with 3 dps, too. Just a limit to the mixer channels and plugs you can use at once. I started with a luna , but soon got "addicted" to the sound so i wanted mor dsp power. Keep in mind that you still need a sort of preamp or mixer for mic recording. And, the unbalanced I/O´s are a bit more difficult to handle, because sometimes you can get a "ground loop", which will put noise into your recordings. you can usually get rid of this by changing the wiring of your setup.

You cannot run the luna/sfp devices on the cpu of your computer, they only work on the creamware dsp.
But you can use native plugs like waves or native instruments and the luna plugs the same time, so it´s really an upgrade.

If you can, get a luna 2496i/o box or a adat/analog converter so you have more in/ outs with the luna. Or maybe an old, used adat. btw with only 3 dps 96kHz isn´t much fun; but you won´t miss it that much.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.Let's just clear one thing.If I,for example,use some reverb on one track,distortion on other track,and do some mixing,and to that point I have no more dsp power,is that mean that I am limited to those operations?Or I can apply reverb to sound,and then use cpu power?I hope you understood my question.
Does Luna gives sound worth "master"(finished)material?

yes, you can aplay sound with reverb or sound from some sinth or whatever to sequencer stereo track, than close device and open the next one.

I have only a luna and I'm quite happy with it, although I cannot load much stuff. There's this function through which you can disable a device without removing it from the project and it is convenient, for I just record the audio track from the device, disable it (reduce polyphony to 0) and open another device. I recommend this soundcard with no hesitation!

the sound quality is excellent!the cards work very well.computers in general can be tricky,so,just be patient and things will go great.

there is no other product like this.believe me,you've done the right thing.(you know that you will still need a sequencing program like cubase or sonar or studio7 or samplitude or logic right?)

it might also be a good idea to post your computer system specs (processor, motherboard, etc). Some components may give problems with Creamware cards so better to make sure you don't end up dissapointed by all sorts of hardware conflicts.

Hi there,

Well I had a look at your computerspecs, and they're similar to what I used last year. It worked nice with my pulsar1+luna2 combo and never had any problems with it. You made the right choice on the TUSL2-c board since this is clearly a very stable board and I'm sure you'll have no problems at all using it with creamware cards.

The hunt is finished I just bought it.It will be in my hands for 3-4 hours.Then,I will come back with instalation questions .
Yes,when I was purchasing my motherboard I don't wanted to waste money on something that is not reliable,and tusl2c was ideal for my needs.
So,now I will replace my old sblive audio card,with my first pro card-luna!

...and when you get addicted and want more dsp, look out for second hand pulsar1's, pulsar2's, luna's, powersampler's etc for instant dsp expansion. That's the great thing about these cards. A 4/5 year old pulsar1 card, for example, can still be used to expand your current system.
