Maybe this should go to Tips'n'Tricks forum. Or problem solving...
Just started doing a bigger audio mix and master... and the fucking SFP crashes every 5 minutes! My first 30 minutes of work went to ashes... before I learned to save the project after every minor modification I do.
There are days when I hope I had bought RME card and UAD+powercore.
I really hope this is caused by poor drivers for.. err, what drivers are used for WAVE SOURCE/DEST modules? Anyway, this is the last project I do with a non-ASIO software. Could this be the problem?

My SFP never crashes or maybe once in a month.
You must have other problems.

My SFP crashes sometimes when I quit and select to save my project, solution; save my project, then quit

(this might be a mobo/SDRAM issue)
Never crashes on other occasions..
My computer DOES however crash whenever I use Emagic Sounddiver (for my virus synth) or when I use Nero for burning CD's..
But that has nothing to do with CW or SFP...

my main source of SFP crash is mod2 and mod III. I save like mega frequently when I work with those. But other than that, I use wave source and dest, and have no problems. Actually, SFP only crashed like twice since ver 3.1c came out. Then again, I only use around 10-12 tracks per tune.

Kim, other problems? Like what?
I don't use ModII neither ModIII.. only wave modules, STM2448 and effects.
Now, I saved frequently and it took.. maybe even an hour before first crash. Ok, I was happy I saved frequently. BUT WHAT THE HELL! All my changes were vanished! I had my startup project there when I reloaded... shit. Pleate tell me something wise or soon I'm gonna sell my gear.

Last time that happened to me, I found the File0000.chk file that was created on reboot and renamed it to file000.pro, and believe it or not, there was my project...
Wise enough?

If my system crashes the usual causes are:
digital sync to external gear (sp/dif or adat, wrong sample rate ,some dx or vst plugins ,if I play a soundfile and try to process the same file at the same time, overload of master PCI bus (increase latency will solve that problem or use less
modules especially reverbs). It could be andeffect board.I had to exchange the first pulsarboard I bought ,now I have 3 Pulsar 1 and they work pretty well.Tell us which setup you have.
I hope you´ll find the causes for your problems.
Best regards Kim

Kim, my setup is here:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... tart=20&39
Gary, logic crashes virtually never...
aMo, I'll check if I find such file... but I already remade the project file, no problem. But if this behaviour continues, I'm going nuts.
Could it be, that Windows needs (I've disabled it) swap file - although I have 1GB RAM and I checked, the mem usage was something like 400megs maximum.

Cubase VST 5.1 r1 is to my experience very buggy.Cubase SX is much better.

Excuse me? I never used VST. I use Logic Audio and Cool Edit Pro.
(Though, right now I'm considering Cubase SX and Samplitude)

I've heard that you should NEVER turn the virtual memory off on a PC. Espescially with 2000/XP.
Jupiter8 simple virtual memory rule:
Mac: always OFF
PC: always ON.

logic CAN be crashed if you do certain things(feed an aux channel back to itself thru a buss, sometimes yes, sometimes no.but when no it's NO)
i found that logic(and other apps)need vm for some functions.i had not had an sfp problem from vm being disabled.currently,i use a small swap file for that reason.

I've heard many people have disabled swap... Gary, you said you have small swap? How small? And how much do you have RAM?
