Protools with Mbox, Scope 3.1, Gigastudio 96...
Is anyone using these programs in there studio? I already have a very functional studio running Creamware’s Scope 3.1 and Gigastudio 96. I currently use the midi in Cubase and record in either Wavelab or Cubase (But I’d prefer to use Protools mainly for audio editing)

I’m looking to get an mbox BUT have great concerns about the Digidesigns approach to ONLY use Digi soft and hardware together. The reason I use Creamware is for FULL routing capabilities between any software and all my external hardware. No compromising on when and how I use anything!!! As you all know!!!

Can I run the Mbox fully though the Scope software? Will Protools LE accept that Scope will rout everything to it? Can I still rout everything via software? What are the problems?

What are people using? Please tell me if you are using anything similar. Any problems? And btw I would be running this all on ONE super PC. Running both Midi and Audio.

Creamware Pulsar 2, soundcard
Creamware Luna 2, soundcard
Creamware 2496 (8 I/O)
(plus all the other normal studio stuff… Pre-amps, mics, instruments etc…

Software:
Creamware Scope 3.1
Gigastudio 96
Cubase and Wavelab

What are my options if I add Digidesign’s Mbox to the line up. I just want protools to work without problems on all the soft and hardware I already have. Or is Digi going to lose yet another sale becasue of there "only digi idealistic view".

Please tell me of your experiences with Creamware and Digidesign.

Protools LE software doesn't "see" Creamware hardware at all, so you'll need to connect your Digidesign/Creamware setup with good'old'fasioned physical cables...
Your best option is to go for a Digi001 and connect it to Pulsar via Adat and sp-dif. That gives you 10 channels in'n'out, and it works very well...

So basically Protools LE is a POINTLESS program. Does it recognize ASIO? You can get ASIO drivers for the Mbox. But I'm not sure what that really means, only casue digi is so confined to the therory that they own the world. But I'll look into it.

Would Protools recognize a "wave dest"?

Also if I used a spdif cable from pulsar to the input on the Mbox. Used the two mic/line inputs on Mbox. Used "wave dest" into protools LE. Then I should get 6 inputs into Protools LE, Right...? Has anyone done that?

Protools LE <b>ONLY</b> works with Digidesign hardware. Not Asio, WDM or wave drivers.

The Mbox hardware has Asio drivers so you can use it with other host software. Protools LE does not use or require the Asio driver, it uses the Mbox thru Digidesign's DAE driver.

If you hook up a Mbox via SP-dif to Pulsar you get 2 channels in/out. That's why I suggested Digi001 instead, as it adds an additional 8 channels via it's Adat interface...

I'm now again starting to understand why I've always hated Digidesign! I love Protools but can't stand digidesigns polices. The main reason I didn't buy a 001 years ago is becasue of the company. I like full freedom to do what I like when I like. I never want to be "locked" into a company. I was just hoping that the Mbox with ASIO drives was what I was looking for. Instead, I hate to say it but, maybe cracked versions of digidesigns software are worth looking into. And yes it really bugs me to even say it.

As I said years ago Digidesign should have released protools as a stand alone program. Because it not like Digidesign make any good hardware.

Sorry to ramble on... it's just annoying.
