What is the difrences between this two digital standards. As I know AES/EBU have +4dB (balanced) and S/PDIF -10dB (unbalanced) output. I have Pulsar 2 plus with AES/EBU and Behringer DDX3216 external mixer with S/PDIF. I have another question in that way. Is better choice to make remix with DDX3216 SPDIF to AES/EBU using SPDIF to AES converter or I have to by AES/EBU option for DDX3216 (available)

either should work fine.hosa makes a cheap converter that works for about $40-60.how much is the behringer option?

You know the difference: AES/EBU is balanced, SPDIF is unbalanced.

The only real difference is with the output voltage, aes/ebu being about twice that of s/pdif. If you put in a higher volatge than an input can take it will be clipped, but as digital signals are simply pulse waves with two states (0 & 1 or on and off) this clipping will have no effect on the quality of the signal. There is a setting in SFP to adjust the digital output to consumer level (s/pdif I guess) so you can check this to be on the safe side, but I have had no problems running the aes/ebu output to the s/pdif input of an 01v using a cable I made up.

I've been told it is enough to put an apropriate resistor in the spdif to aes/ebu cable. I'm not sure what resistance it should be but it's easy to calculate - - - - R = U / I (AFAIR)

Try a simple cable first...It works in many situations.
If it doesn't works, then try other solutions
