I would like to see a synth rack (kind of like the multi fx device) that would allow easy switching and bypassing among several synths.

This would help in live situations. You could have several synths in the rack on bypass and switch between them, rather than have to go through the loading process in the live bar. It would just allow for quicker access/switching within a project.

The other option would be a bypass option in the live bar. That way you could have all the synths you may need loaded in the project and ready to go with routing, number of voices, etc. without overloading your DSPs. Then when you need them, you can switch them out of bypass mode.

I really like this idea. Bypass buttons on the live bar would be a very cool thing, particularly if it would free up the dsp the device is using. Also, if you could use cc data to turn them on & off this could be an invaluable feature. I'm running 9 DSPs & with a lot of these synths, they get used up really fast.

You can set the # voices for a synth to 0 in the live bar and this basically unloads this from DSP.
Would be even better if you could do this programmatically, (ie, with some midi message or something) but it certainly helps keep DSP usage down.

There used to be a similar functionality for FX, but that went with SFP.

It would still be nice to have a synth rack though - so you could have one output setup and switch which synth uses the output on the fly (and have it automatically switch off the other synth that was previously active in the rack). That way, all routing is setup with minimal inputs - and voices are already set. Basically, with this method, it only takes one click to switch between multiple synths. Otherwise, you have to set one synth to 0 voices, then switch the other synth to the number of voices you want - plus have a bunch more input routings set up.

This would work different from the effects rack currently included in SFP - which toggles effects on and off (and in and out of DSP). The effects rack allows more than one effect to be active at a time. I don't think you would want that with a synth rack (you might have multiple synth racks, but within the same synth rack, switching one synth on should replace the synth that was active). Does that make sense?
