i bought a used pulsar 1 board.
installing the drivers is ok and windows finds the board automatically.
however, when i want to install the software i get this error - timeout DSP0. i tried it out with all IRQs, on win XP, 98, with AMD duron, athlon and INTEL celeron. i always get the same message.
the seller says he tested the board and it was ok.
could it be that the software isn't compatible with the pulsar? i have an original Creamware 3.1a CD and i have also downloaded the 3.1a from the creamware site.
anyone has a clue?

You could see if the board is fully in the pci socket. And you could try a nother pci slot. The software must be ok, but you could try the 3.1c update, but i guess it should not matter.
good luck

i tried it with all software versions i could get. 3.1a, 3.1c and even the luna II software. always the same error msg.
i also tried every PCI slot on my computer and i'm sure it was always well put in.
in the BIOS i changed to every possible setting: PCI IRQs, ACPI on/off, etc.
my computer is a Athlon 1700+ with Gigabyte 7DXR mainboard. but i had the same problem with an Athlon/Duron & ASUS mainboard and with an Intel Celeron.
after all i read here i think my board has a hardware error.
does anyone still believe the pulsar isn't broken? i don't want to send it back to the seller to find out it was ok afterwards. i want to be sure.
thanks

SEND IT BACK NOW!!!!!!!. I too almost sold a defective Luna 11. I checked it over and over untill I confirmed it was faulty. I sent it to Creamare for repairs. The guy may not know that the card is broken. I would never buy used computer peripherals.

Have you tried sending the error message to Creamware to see if it means anything to them? Also have you tried installing on a clean formatted install?

in the original Pulsar manual that timeout error is mentioned in relation with heat problems.
The temperature at the slot may be different from what's monitored by the sensor on your mobo, though it seems rather uncommon with a Celeron.
If you're absolutely shure that it's not heat related then better be safe than sorry and return the card as long as that's still possible.
good luck, Tom

Did you happen to buy that card from ebay? I remember seeing very recently a card for sale there where the seller clearly stated that the card suffered from this error.
I think this error is fatal - a friend of mine contacted Creamware (he was thinking of buying it) and they told him it was definitely a fault with the card.
peace

Problem solved.
Yes I bought the card on ebay with the thought that perhaps the seller had his computer configured badly. It wound up that the card was indeed corrupted.
I took advantage of the Upgrade Campaign (last minute!) and am about to receive a new Pulsar 2.
Thanks for your concern, guys
