I am looking for a reverb plugin for PC that is closer to a reverb than a metallic dustbin simulator.

Asking the same question to a friend, he pointed me to Altiverb, but it exist for MAC only.
http://www.audioease.com/Pages/Altiverb ... bMain.html

Anyone has any idea of some unknown high end reverb that sounds like a reverb ?

I've tried trueverb (horrible), TC native reverb (THE champion of metalic dustbin simulators), and various plugins and "ican't get no satisfaction"....
I also use Masterverb Pro, and I know Sonic Timeworks reverb which are fine, but not yet what i'm looking for (i have lived 25 years in a place with a fantastic natural verb, and my reference is pretty high i think, i' not showing off, i'm just desperate).

Thanks to point what is your best reverb plugin, i'd like to know if i'm not missing one somewhere. Thanks in advance.

I agree that the 4080L isn't the best for a totally natural-sounding reverb -- I like it best for synth sounds. For a good concert hall reverb I really like the TC Electronic M-One, but that's a hardware box. You *can* hook it up to Pulsar via S/PDIF and pretend it's an aux plugin, which is what I do -- and it works pretty well. I have no experience with DirectX or VST reverbs, so I can't help you on that one!

Samplitude's Room Simulator http://www.samplitude.com/de/news.htm
http://www.samplitude.com/de/v7_feat12.htm

Sonic Foundry's Acoustic mirror (included in Sound Forge 6 only) http://sonicfoundry.com/products/showpr ... sp?PID=668

>>> convolution's reverbs in a general way (there is also Aurora, for CoolEdit http://www.ramsete.com/aurora/ )

Free convolution reverb in GNU/Linux: BruteFIR http://www.ludd.luth.se/~torger/brutefir.html#news and a soft that can do convolution reverbs and much, much more: AlmusVCU http://www.ludd.luth.se/~torger/almusvcu.html#whatis It is Free Software!!  and it absolutely rock

We may be able to use these two softs in a easier way (for us non Linux nerds) when Agnula 1.0 will be released http://www.agnula.org

And maybe it will be much easier when the 2.6 GNU/Linux kernel will be released in June 2003 (with ALSA low latency drivers included; no more need to install ALSA by ourselves)

So Spacef, with these links, you can understand that the Mac's Altiverb is totally overpriced...

And many hardware reverbs too, today...

With these reverbs, you can add a true church ambiance to...say south africans vocals

You can buy Samplitude 7 Professional for 40€/month/24 months with "Sam for Rent"
http://www.samplitude.com/de/sfr3.htm
http://www.samplitude.com/de/sfr_faq.htm
http://europe.magix.com/content/samplit ... ENG_sv.pdf

Must I say that the Samplitude's Room Simulator is IN SURROUND in Samplitude Professional?

So Spacef, you can understand that today all the CW DSPs reverbs are just toys, compared to convolution reverbs...

What a great time for audio!

grok what about voices from madagascar ?? Samplitude seems pretty nice.

Shayne : yes , i think hardware is the easiest for me but i was trying to avoid the investment...

garyB : that would be nice but hard to do (the place i'm talking of is a kind of building hall, people go in and out sometimes, but a nice idea, I could try to make an impulse of it.

Well I think it's a good start . Thank you all

Other ideas welcome.

(well i guess that due to MasterverbPro my reference are even higher now, because this is clearly one the best "ambience" available. I still haven't found what i'm looking for, something not necessarily natural but that stands in a mix with sparkling treble, like some verbs in TC Fireworks for ex...). i'm still searching.
Too bad samplitude doesn't give the verb for testing in the demo version....

Spacef, I have Masterverb Pro, and I'm not totally satisfied with it.

The demo of Samplitude 7 allow testing the Room Simulator, check it: http://www.samplitude.com/de/news.htm

" Samplitude professional 7.0 Demo version
Try a demo version of the brand new Samplitude 7.0, and see why we think it’s the bee’s knees. Of course, it is only a demo version: that means no saving, room simulation with real-time preview only, recording time limited to 60 seconds, and no CD burning. Is that a sound deal?"

You don't have a ton of impulses with this demo, but I think you'll be impressed.

This is how you must proceed for testing the Room Simulator with Samplitude 7 demo:

1) Install the demo; when the installation is over, Samplitude will start

2) Go to Options >>> System audio ; a windows will appear >>> set the "Driver System" to what kind of driver you're using in SFP >>> and then go to Program option

3) Set the "Preview Time" to 60 seconds, close the window by clicking "OK"

4) Go to File and Import audio; choose the wave you want to test the reverb with; choose a short wave (one or two minutes); choose wave project or RAM project (Ram project is in Ram, and Wave project will be written in a choosen directory)

5) When you see the waveform on your screen, select the part of the wave you want to check by clicking and dragging from left to right or right to left

6) Go to Effects >>> Room simulator; the Room Simulator window will appear on screen

7) Choose an impulse, for example "Cathedral 1 - 4s - wide natural.WAV"

8 ) You can modify some parameters if you want

9) Now click on "play/stop": you will hear the reverb in realtime preview with a maximum of 60 seconds preview. The preview is looped. Have fun and check all that you want to check.

10) Say thank you to me because at this point you've finally found what you were desperatly looking for

11) Buy Samplitude, coz 40€/month is very affordable for an audio tool second to no one! (30€/month for a crossgrade)

Cheers,

Grok
