Hello!

I know this is a silly question, so I kindly ask you to forgive my ignorance...

Which is the difference between a 'Classic' Pulsar and a 'Plus'. I know the Plus has XLRs (balanced connections and AES/EBU istead of SPDIF)
I mean if on my 'classic' Pulsar I connect the I/O bunch of connections (I dont know which is its formal name) of a Pulsar 'Plus' does that make my Pulsar a Pulsar 'Plus'? Or there are differencies on the cards themselves?

Thank you

If your card has the XLR+Adat it's a plus if it has the RCA + adat it's a Classic

But if your card has the RCA with Zlink It's a Zlink card

rodos1979, yes, the cards itself are similar, only the I/O possibilities are different.

CLASSIC:
unbalanced analog RCA
digital SPDIF
2xADAT

PLUS:
balanced analog XLR
digital AES/EBU
2xADAT

the original question was if the simple exchange of the cable-whip (?) would 'upgrade' the card to the 'Plus' version.
The Pulsar One doesn't have an extension connector and it be rather strange if the complete board layout would be different just for balanced IOs.
A reasonable assumption in todays business...

Hello!

Thank you for replying. However, only Astroman and Spoimala seem to have understood my question but I am not sure if myself have understood the answer!
Astroman, so that means a YES? (i.e. I can "upgrade" my Pulsar1 to a "plus" version simply by exchanging the cable whip?)

Thank you

P.S. Forgive my English, which leads sometimes to misunderstandings

i would say that the answer is probably "no",because the issue is not only balanced and unbalanced connections, but also level.the plus is pro +4db ins and outs.the classic is -20db.

my guess, too. There are 2 pairs of unused solder pads for smd parts near the rear cable connector of the Pulsar One, so it's obviously more than just the cable.
