Anybody any idea: when loading samples to any STS sampler, SFP crashes and XP says <cwWindows.dll> is the cause. Same with Volkszämpler in SX. Help appreciated!
(XP PRO, SFP 3.1c, SX 1.03, P4B-1GB)

hi,
i had it sometimes, but related to the loading of some modulars...i thought it was related to a misplacement or double placement of the preset files, but it was so random, that i can't say anything...it has to do with the loading of something and maybe is in the range of XP problems.
currently i'm waiting for the cubase SX 1.02 cd, so i can install everything on the much simpler w98se, and see there what happens.
sorry i can't help, but your not alone.
ciao.

Thx alfonso! Maybe you're right: it never happened before XP, but nobody else seems to have this problem. I'll report it to CW!

It get's even worse: sometimes the whole system crashes with blue screen and XP says: KGPAR3.SYS is the cause (SFP-driver).

Maybe I found something:
I tracked my system with filemon.exe and found that some *.pep-files are missing when loading STS-5000:
e.g. 'C:programmesfpappbinpepbasePepDisplayObject.nfo'.
Can anybody tell me if there are nfo-files in the pepbase-folder and if that could be the cause? I can't find any in all my installation files (3.1a-3.1c)??
Any help appreciated!

All my .pep files are in C:SFPAppScript and it's subfolders.
.nfo files usually come with .dsp or .pep files. Maybe .nfo's not really necessary, but rather a guide (for developers?).
Maybe an installation problem? I experienced the same symptoms a couple of times...

In the meanwhile I swithed over to ASUS P4T-533-C and 1 GB PC800-RAM - better performance - same problem!
So, nothing new! I switched over to KONTAKT in the meanwhile but this beast cannot read AKAI samples from harddisk (what a shame) - so I can't use my whole library on HD as with STS before. HMPF!
Anybody any idea?
Greetz, Steve.

I get same problem when using STS 3000 with Akai CDs, I think the question is about the CD Rom and there's also a problem with the Akai.dll in SFP/App/bin try to update it (I can´t remember where, search forum please).
My solution , for now, has been saving whole Akai to HD.
luck

SFP can be sensitive to other dodgey apps installed on your machine. It would be worth trying it on a "clean" system to eliminate that as a potential source of the touble.
