Hi all

More than a little bit inspired by PlanetZ, I have decided to put up a Samplitude forum. I know, there is the official newsgroup, but I do not like the structure of it. So I have put up a Snitz forum on my homepage. It is not official yet, but feel free to register and try it out (I may delete all users prior to the official release to try to make it a small happening).

I would like comments on, how you feel to navigate the forum.
Are the colors all-right (I worked for hours on those, and they appear different in daylight and in a dimm room)?
Most of all: how do you think the readablillity is?
Would it be pleasant to look at this forum for however long you usually look at a forum?
Does it look dead or borring? I tried to make it simple to keep focus on the subject.
I made up a small modification myself
When you go to a topic, the order of appearance is:

Original message
Newest reply
Second newest reply
...
...
Oldest reply

This will hopefully help keeping the topic in-topic, while making it a lesser scroll to where you left last time.

How are the catefgories?
Is anything missing?
Are there too many? (if so wich ones)?

I try to make the forum a place not only to ask questions, but also for common knowledge exchange.
Any comments are highly appreciated
and the URL is: http://www.kuhrt.dk/forum

By ordering your messages starting with the original message followed by newest reply, a casual visitor may wonder what the link is between the first two comments. You know how the really popular threads tend to wander.

Personally I like the natural reading order of first to last. That's how books, stories and scribbles on a wall are generally structured.

Also I think the purple is too bright and neon-like and the text size could come up one size.

Otherwise, nice layout, easy to navigate

I appreciated the OT forums idea a lot: a place to freely exchange opinions...very nice!
about the colors I found them a bit dark (?!), imho probably too contrasted, it might be tiring after a while
btw it looks a very good job!

Thinking about the "original post followed by newest reply" approach, it occurs to me that maybe that's an excellent way to try to keep threads on topic. Replies too far from the original questions will seems senseless.

I suppose it depends on what you think the nature of the discussions is going to be: free-form ramblings and chat-style, or more technical on-topic stuff.

Unfortunately the Snitz forum does not have the lovely feature, that the user can change color sceme (as this board has), so I have set up one more forum , so you can tell me, if that looks better.

old: http://www.kuhrt.dk/forum
new: http://www.kuhrt.dk/samplitude

As before: any coments are wellcome

I think the new one is much easier on the eyes - good for prolonged lurking  The other one's colours were too bright.

My only other comment is that the dark crimson colour is a bit hard to see, but then I tend to have my monitors quite dark.

Nice job. Hope you get the members rolling in soon.

Yes, new one is better for eyes. I think dark colors on the display are better for eyes, too. My desktop usually looks dark blue/green (not so far Planetz) with white or yellow writings.
Red maybe it's less resting than other colors, some psychologists are convinced of it. Who will stay calm in a red room? (It reminds me the cover of an album by Morcheeba...)
You could use different color shadings depending on the matter
If you want a fight forum (dxl style) you should use bright red and ultra shining violet!

btw good job!

ciao, Fede

I feel yellow letters are very readables, a little bit agressive too...

Purple letters are unreadables...

yeah,

new colors are much better looking.
i am not convinced about posts order tho'. i could live with it,
but
all other forums i know use top to bottom order. i think most people are used to it.

My favorit forum apart from this one gives the user the option to have the last post on top and then descending to the original post in the end - I eraly like that a lot, but I can at the present time not implement that option into the Snitz 3.4.01 software.

Here is one more option by the way  http://www.kuhrt.dk/scale1

What code?
What hurts?
The scale1 forum?
It is made for 24/32bit resolution, as I expect people who have payed for a ligit copy of Samplitude also will have a videocard, that can run 24/32bit (wich color-vice is the same anyway).

it would be great if your site would accept my username and password, but for some reason it doesn't accept it.

The MOD I was looking for is finally done. I will be able to offer the user to choose between predefined color themes - just like here at PlanetZ. The forum will be on http://www.kuhrt.dk/samplitude It is closed for new subscribers at the moment, and on a new database - so the 2 of you, who signed in will have to redo this

Feel free to drop by to precheck it out, if you feel like it. If not, I will keep you informed about the official oppening date - probably one of the next days

Happy Birthday to mee

The forum will open 30th of August at 12 o-clock mid day middle European time. The Style changer MOD is implemented, but I have to go to work now, and then sleep. Subfora will be added before the oppening. Looking forward to see some of you there.
