Just tried a demo of Acid. It’s interesting, but don’t really get the point being able to do most of it in Cubase.
Any regular user out there? Please, give your comments about this program, I’m keen to know more. Thanks.

I find it useful because I can take segments I have created with fruityloops or whatever and cut and move them about, this is because i use logic and it can not do some of the things acid can do (actually i just use Logic for MIDI, the audio portion is a pain)
cubase and cakewalk can do stretching allready so i do not see why you would need it.

Acid is great. It is very simple and intuitive. I work really fast in it. I tend to do "quicky" arranging in Acid, and then do final touches in Cubase. I think I am gonna buy Abelton Live soon, so that just might replace Acid. Honestly though, from what I have heard of your music Nestor, I don't think Acid would be the best choice for you.

Acid has a lot of features that aren't immediately obvious, especially in the editing and manipulation of tracks. And as Algo says it's fast. Nothing comes close to this tight little bit of code's way of operating. I especially like the "chopper": click on a wav, loop the playback and move the start and ends points - set to whatever grid you like. Whenever you have a nice chunk just drag it in!
I also like the wav preview: have your track playing, highlight another drum loop or piece of music (any tempo!) and AcidPro will start playback in time with your currently playing track at the same tempo - a great quick way to see how different bits might fit in.
But Acid has no MIDI worth mentioning.
The best news is that AcidPro4 is due to be announced any day with a probable full release someime in mid-September or early October.
The hope is that it will be something like Sonar with ASIO, but minus all the bugs and hassles Sonar users seem to have.

Thanks guys. It seems Acid it's rather a loop based music software so, in that sense not very creative to my eyes. Nevertheless there is people that would die for it, that is why I’ve tried the demo, I was impressed by the love some people would feel for Acid.
Acid would be very useful to me if it could synchronize to Cubase, is it possible? Like you would do with Rebirth for instance.
As you say Algo, I don't think it is made for my kind of music and work. Just was curious cos it's a new, innovative concept to me. Thanks for your answers. Going back to my lovely Cubase VST 5… he he…

Hey...different strokes for different folks.
But...I use (after being on the Logic/Cubase Roads), that I prefer Sonar 2...and it's integration with SoundForge and Acid 3.0.
I've over 20,000 plays on MP3.com
Acid is not my success, altho I grabbed it for future techno work. Between the PA-80,Karma (and its third party combi/program "rush"....my Triton and my CS6X and XV-5080, not to mention my wondrous S-5000, Cramware Plug-Ins, including MiniMaxi...I have absolutely no hindrances in recording audio...which is my preference...cause I groove as much as I can (for 67 1/2)....and have fun...because I've got the PC (1.3 Athlon), Win 2000 Pro...and Luna and a Pulsar 2...ProPack and Mod2, along with Lightwave and Vectro....and I just refuse to deal with a Cubase or a Logic anymore. I have simple taste, am confused too easily, want to produce with momentum...not a tweaker or elitest....I just wanna leave my droppings and move on to the next BM!
GDaddy..

It's very common this "Acid is only for loops" stuff. But it's not. The only thing looped in what I do are the drums. But even then when you take the wav into the Chopper and then place the bits back on the track, they're not in looped chunks anymore either.
I suppose SoFo is to blame for the perception since Acid's advertised as a "loop-based creation tool".
The supposed superior multi-track audio app from SoFo is VegasVideo3. That's what they recommend for multiple "one-shot" audio tracks. The app is primarily designed for video editing (and it's a fantastic app at that!) but surprisingly it has everything that Acid has as well. I only say "supposed superior" here because I'm still waiting for Acid to choke on all my audio tracks and then I'll switch to just using VV3 for all audio, but so far this hasn't happened.
And if you want to get into video editing and already know Acid then you can start serious video editing in minutes and after installing VV3 since it works in exactly the same way. No learning curve.
