Hello all....
Got and installed my new SRB today (part of the anniversary specials - got the SRB / Optimaster bundle) My setup now consists of a Pulsar II and SRB....(21 DSP)
How nice it is to be able to run multiple instances of Prisma and the other DSP hungry synths!
However, I am getting "PCI overload" error messages if I open up more than 10 MasterVerbs....is this normal?
The CW website states that PCI errors are common with large amounts of Reverb plugs running....just wanted to make sure I don't have something else going on here.
Cheers

10 seems pretty good(that's a lot of reverbs)........

Sounds aboout right. That's not a limitation of the dsp but a limitation of how much data you can throw across the PCI bus from card to system memory and back etc. This is where choice of chipset and motherboard is important.

Me too. On my PulsarII a five-voice Prisma + some effects is the limit

Hi Kamurah.
Great to hear that we join the "Over 21 club" together
I just got a brand new Scope/SP today, which I'll be adding to my exsisting Scope/DP !!!
Together with my Korg Oasys I'll have 35 DSP's, 56 in/out channels, two sets of wordclock i/o and two sets of AdatSync i/o !!!!!!
I'm in DSP-HEAVEN and the dream of a true "studio-inside-the-computer" has finally come true...

Thanks everyone!
Yeah, I am totally loving the system.
Kim- whoa...man, I would need a 12 step program just to pry myself away from a system like that
Val- Noise time indeed! I have been periodically stopping by the chat room...is it still up and going? (are you called Prozac now?)
I will upload a song I have been putting together later today....I just want to add some vocals first.
It is sooooo nice being able to compose the whole piece in ONE project load (i.e. without having to unload synths and such)
Cheers

Bassdude,
Thanks for the info. It always makes me a little skittish when errors start popping up.
It's not like I have ever used 10 reverbs in a song anyway......I was just doing the informal "how much can I throw at the system" test.
I don't have much choice on the MOBO / Chipset end....I'm on a Mac
Ken- I think the special is still running (until the 30th). What's that sound???
Is that your credit card calling?
Cheers

10 is an excellent number, very good! Thats how many I can get on my P4, with the Intel i850 chipset. The CUSL2/TUSL2 boards (intel i815 chipset) are still the best, they can get 12 or more when fully tweaked!

Wow! Thinking I’m still happy with my now old 4 DSP sharks. What would it happen to me if I could own just another 6? I’m not even thinking about 15 but just 6… 15!!! Woowwww, I would have to take a valium or something like that just before arriving home. You’re so… so lucky guys!

Good thing I don't need to upgrade my Protools to |HD right now

I posted a new song utilizing my recent acquisition
Song is called "All a Lie" and is in the 'Music' forum.
Was able to do the entire composition in in one project without unloading devices.....oh boy I am spoiled now
Cheers
