I'm looking for a good allround compressor for Pulsar and the comp X from Timeworks seems to be the best (tried the VST version which sounded great)
But on the site it says their plugins are not working with version 3 software.
So will they be updated anytime soon? Seems a bit strange to sell plugins that don't even work on 3, as we're already on 3.1 now.
Or are there any other great compressors for pulsar. The CW comps sound so blah!

I like this compressor too but you should know:
The stereo-version causes phase-problems!
The attack-fader is inverted.
(A big Number is fast a short slow ?!)
I have been trying to get e-mail support but no answer!
The main algorythm sound realy good!
Best wishes....
p.s. I´m searching for a great compressor too..

It works perfect under 3.1, though with the same errors as posted before...

btw. is the Pulsar version actually better than the VST version?
And what exactly do these phase problems mean to my sound? Do they mess it up bigtime (which would make it pretty useless imo, cause I want to use it on stereo sounds as well) or does it just occur in certain cases?
I think I could live with the attack being inverted

phase problems are a hell, they can change a sound completely and in a manner that it's difficult to realize what's actually going on. Generally transparency gets lost.
There's a small amp simulation (by Ingo) on the devices page, with which you can simulate phase deviations. Move the virtual mic in front of the speaker and watch what happens to the sound. In this case it's an intended effect, but it wouldn't be nice to have that your mix by accident.
cheers, Tom

Hi,
The STW Pulsar effecs are 64bit, due to an intelligent use of algo's. I don't know if the same is true on their VST counterparts...
I'm running the STW nicely under SFP. A new version is told to come out soon, free for existing users I suppose. A workaround for 4080L is now required to install, but the other fx work just fine!

Can't wait until the new version comes out, hopefully soon! I've had my favorite STW plugin, the Soft Mastering, "on the shelf" since I discovered the phase issue. I WANT OT USE THIS DEVICE AGAIN! It really is one of my favorites! Timeworks?

I've tried several good compressors for VST, but I think that our compressors, particularly the S one, the one packed with the Propack is and excellent piece of software.
Perhaps it suits my needs better for the kind of music I do, I don’t know. Anyway, for my Bassguitar is just TOO MUCH, it's fantastic, it gives to it a very special, strong, and at the same time soft texture, I love.
You are probably looking for something more aggressive or punching, aren’t you?
In that case I would wait for the upcoming X-MACHINE, from Celmo, this is a serious and great piece of software, I don’t think there will be anybody not liking it, imposible! It’s so flexible too! I strongly recommend you to think about it. There is a demo version you can download to try out. These are the specifications:
Input Stage: Basis Ratio 1/1 Input to main output with 2 level selector: Line (-12dB to +12dB) or Instrument input level
Phase inverter between L and R channels
Processing headroom Overload indicator
2 (High Pass and Lo Pass) Filters continously variable (HPF: 20/1800 Hz and LPF 400/22K)
2 Band Parametric Equalizer (40/1200 Hz and 600 Hz/24 KHz) +/- 24dB and variable Q
2 Band Contour Shelving equalizer (33/400 Hz and 3.3/24 KHz) +/- 24dB
1 Controllable Sub Bass Booster with SB level indicator
1 Compressor stage (Vintage AnalogOpto Style Compressor) Externally keyable or keyable via input filter
1 Expander/Gate stage externally keyable or keyable via input filter
1 Higly efficient De-Esser
1 Bit Rate converter (ouputs 6 to 32 bits signal)
1 Output limiter
2 commutable (inputs/outputs) Vu-Meter
Compressor stage routing (Input>Compressor>EQ>>> or Input>EQ>Compressor>>>)
Ext Key Listen buttons on Compressor and Expander/Gate
De-Essing Listen button controlling exactly the processed signal
This unit could be used as one single channel (Left channel only) for mono applications,
using a DSP Economy circuit, de-activating the second channel (and freeses DSP resources)
High precision Digital display on EQ's and Filters
Integrated MIDI functions on all controls
Separate Output for Sub Bass Frequencies
Two Inputs (Stereo L+R)
Two Outputs (Stereo L+R)
MIDI In + Out
Separate Output of SubBass System
Two (L+R channels) External Key Inputs controlling the Compressor stage and/or the Expander/Gate stage
Signal path, with all functions activated simultaneously:
Input > 2 Stage Filter > Compressor > Param EQ > Shelving EQ > Expander/Gate > De-Esser > Bit Rate > Limiter > Output level
or
Input > 2 Stage Filter > Param EQ > Shelving EQ > Compressor > Expander/Gate > De-Esser > Bit Rate > Limiter > Output level

was there a compressor in pro-pack? I though there was only one compressor from cw. A stereo and a mono compressor.
I want to use them mainly on drums and basses, but the CW comps seem to suck the life out of everything when I use them but maybe it's just me!

and you can't get it to pump in any pleasant way either.
I tried the Celmo demo and this sure is a big one! I just flicked through the presets while playing an unmastered mix of one of my tracks but it didn't seem to make it sound much better, it did some good bizarre eq and subbass stuff but really you don't want to use that on your sounds too much. I thought for compression of final mix the free Endorphin VST plugin sounded nicer.
I think I'll just wait a while to see if the STW gets updated.

In the meantime, OptiMaster is totally awesome, at least in subtle use. One of my current favorite devices actually... until the Timeworks gets updated at least
