Hey All,

Just tried to load up the Saturn in SFP 3.1 and got a software crash, anybody else find this?

Also, it seems that 3.1 is crashing *lots*, for un-obvious reasons and at no repeatable time. I would have posted this in the Bugs thread, but .. what to say?

Perhaps my system moreso than 3.1 bugs methinks?

Pentium 3 600
AOpen 440 BX m/b
Windows 98

Everything was working okay is previous versions. Another problem I'm having (with all versions) is that I can't get the Vocoder to output anything ... of course, my vocoder theory may be a little flat - One mic input, one synth input, both playing at same time, no output? Am I missing something? This happens with all vocoder devices I have tried !

Apologies for posting this is general discussion.

Was the Vocoder problem happening before SFP 3.1 - or is this the first time you've used them?

The reason I ask is that it took me a while to get my head around these devices and couldn't get any sound out of them.

I'm not sure, but do you have to be feeding midi into the device at the same time to get a sound - like playing a note on the keyboard??

I could be wrong as I don't really use vocoders too much and it was a while ago that I thought I had it all sorted.

doesn't new vocoder need a MIDI note on input to play?

vocoders need a SOUND as a carrier, not a MIDI note, unless the vocoder has a built in synth (like orange vocoder) of course. so plug a synth into the vocoder, something like EZsynth.

there is a good tutorial around Z somewhere. i think by a guy called eric

double post, and as a reply to the post from michu beneath: haven't used vocoder for pulsar only once, after reading the thread you mentioned, but that was sooo long ago...

Yeah guys, tried all the above. Feeding in two signals (analyse and carrier), then when this wasn't working, tried the midi note in. Still nothing. Funny thing is, when I tried the new vocoder, the 'solo A' and 'solo C' seem to work fine, so the device is working (i think) !
