Will someone with the transient designer please compare it with dominion by digitalfishphones? I have been wanting the transient designer for awhile but the cost is very high for me, and now I see a free VSTplug doing the same for free. Just curious about some reviews and comparisons (I used up my demo on the Transient Designer long ago).

I have transient designer v3, if i can download the vst one, i'll try it for you, would you like a kind of couple of mp3 just naming settings and have and example all based of the same wav source?

BTW i found the Transient Designer very very good at what it does, and what it does best is modify envleloppe of any wav source, and especialy effective on ANY percussive sounds.

On bassdrum or snare or even EP or percussive synth, it's realy fantastic, it make it stand out of the mix while giving you such liberty to make it sound so clean and having distinctive attacks for every shot, to the other extreme also.

Anyway, i'll try this free devices, and give you some mp3 comparing those.

I have had the Transient Designer for as long as I eat Creamware for breakfast...
Like it very much, have it somewhere in the signal chain on almost every track .

I'm curious what the VST-plugin you mention can you do in comparison. Will report later

I've tried it and someone please correct me if my setup is wrong - as i got some weird results:

Micrologic AV 4.8
mda ePiano as test sound (virt. instr.)
the dominion 100 % effect bus 1

when switching between bypass and neutral settings (all sliders 0%) there was a severe reduction in signal quality, flat and the 'warmth' of the ePiano got lost
When moving up the saturation slider which is supposed to 'add that analog warmth...' it just starts sizzling on high frequencies
Why is that effect called warmth ?
What have I done wrong ?
A plugin which affects the input (before actually doing anything) in such a way can't be considered pro.
I'm really a bit upset as the thingy got the same big mouthed attention in german keyboards mag than on their website.

part 2 OT: as the CD was in the drive I quickly installed another virtual synth (VSTi), something called WASP. Compared the filters to the Modular 2 and can only say: that native stuff was lightyears behind Creams DSPs

conclusion: those not able to compare ( because of no CW board) prolly will believe in that bs and someone spoils the market of a quality pro company - that sucks...

It just seems like an odd comparison.

yesterday i was doing the same thing.
playing mda ePiano thru Dominion, but in Muzys. it sounded great to me

one thing: if i set wet/dry ratio in host to other value than 100% (i can do it in Muzys) then there is severe treble loss when using both Dominion and Endorphin. probably those plugins introduce couple of samples of delay to the signal (like Waves Renessaince Compressor and L1 do for example) so if you mix dry and processed signal such thing happends.

Dominion and Endorphin both let you compensate for loss of high freq. though.
I actually haven't tried Dominion on anything but drums yet, and I think it sounded great (Cubase). But I don't have the Transient Designer so can't compare to that.

my version of (Micro)Logic leaves the original in the path so there's severe phase extinction by overlay of the processed signal. Sounds so shitty, I should have noticed myself what was wrong.

In Muzys it worked much better, but I guess (from the examples I have on disk from Transient Designer) the plugin has a smaller range of operation.

So, I have to apologize, it's shurely not that rubbish, but I keep my opinion about re-design of a smart product instead of doing some original work.
There's still room for this, just read about a voice processing plug in, which does the trick of mimicking resonating strings if someone sings right onto the frame
of a grandpiano (PSP PianoReverb).

i'd rather say different range, as it has very nice saturation, exiter and brickwall limiter thrown in. also it has more control over time characteristics and beside of percussion tweaking it can provide very transparent compression.
if you say this plugin isn't that much innovative you're probably right, so isn't Endorphin, yet another vintage compressor emulation, but they are very good and very free

i am yet to try PianoVerb on voice, but it is killer on snare
