The drum heard in the intro is a darabuka (turkish drum). It has a great fundamental tone, and I discovered by boosting three very narrow eq notch, i was able to make differend "chords" with it...

The distorted beat is an old tama rockstar drumsset miked with one dynamic mic, an Creamware Tdrive insert, Massive bassboost and pattern delay.

The "doing" sound on every second 4 beat, is a WOK (chinese cooking pan) played by hand. (reversed every second time!)

The "string like" sound coming in later is bassguitar chords with alot of delay on it.

The "phasing" part in the end is done by reversing the darabuka beat and automating the EQ.

Hope it inspires you to use EQ for other things than just "correcting stuff"...

Yes, you're right. Sometimes percussion instruments with long resonating bodies have very interesting harmonic structures. I think Djembes have the same characteristics too. I definitly have to experiment with my djembe.
The tune's feel is very gentle, smooth, yet rhythmic. It's someties hard (well, not TOO hard but ya know, sometimes things just don't work!) to make these things coexist, good job!

Well, Your Djembe deserves to have it's inner soul and sound brought to life... Start twisting that EQ right away  (good luck)
