My DAW (running XP pro) is a no-internet machine, and I have only 98 and NT4 on the machine I use for internet. (I use a ZIP drive for moving downloaded stuff to the DAW box, and usually do a virus scan in between.)

Everytime I go to Micro$oft to look for update files for XP, the damn thing tries to invoke Windows Update, or some such, and only shows me updates for the OS that I'm running IE on.

Has anyone seen any important fixes, patches, or updates for XP, and if so, how to get around the 'intelligence' on M$soft's cumbersome website forest? tks

From the main page use under Downloads the entry Download Center. Choose out of the list found at Product Name the entry Windows XP Professional and at Operating System Windows XP. Press Find It. You then can download a hell of a lot qxxxxxx.exe files in many different languages.
Happy pulsaring
