Im shall be getting a master keyboard controller soon for composing and entering midi into a sequencer. I also plan to take up piano lessons so the keyboard has to have weighted keys. I have a little oxygen8 already so control nobs are not required but basic midi controllers are.

I currently have my eye on a Fatar Studiologic SL880 and was wondering if any of you have had experience of this keyboard?

Something with program change controls would be good to cycle through presets and im not sure if the studiologic has that.

Any other recommendations?

hi, i have oberheim-viscount mc2000,
great midi implementation, 8 zones, slot for sound daughterbord....i'm not a pianist, but the keys seem good enough.
i'm satisfied.

if you're going to take piano lessons hammer action of the keys is absolutely essential.
A master keyboard with only weighted keys is completely useless. The SL880 is one of the cheapest offering this feature afaik.
If the piano part is really important for you a used Kawai MP9000 might appeal.
Though around 1200 bucks they are the only affordable ones generating tone information by the impact of the hammers. Most other keyboards use the hammers only for keyboard feeling.

I use a Yamaha P-80, but that's not going to actually give you the control you're looking for.

I've certainly heard that the FATAR StudioLogic are the way to go for pro.

There's another brand which is meant to be pretty good for this as well, but I'm afraid I can't think of it at the moment. Sorry.
