anyway, Luna should be cheaper, which looks like Luna have almost no sofwares. maybe the pulsar2 will be cheaper also because it doesn't have some synths, sampler, mixer.
the scope will be at the same price.

hi, can anyone tell if the only negative side of using the sts-5000 with a luna is the limited number of voices or do other factors, like a lot of different filter-types, also use up the dsp-resources!!?

I actually have the STS-5000! Like it a lot. Can do amazing things to samples like timestretching, pitchshifting, formant correction, all in realtime, all MIDI-controllable, all fun:) The filters are very flexible as well.
But it's all in the 5k's pdf manual...
I really think these features make it worth the money!
But it depends on what you want, if you just need those features (and don't care about no library) get the 5k! It runs very stable. DSP usage is fair on my Pulsar2, I have more than 4 dsp's free for other things.

The samplers in Native Instrument's Reactor can do the same things as the STS5000 but not as many voices at the same time (not even close on my PIV-1,7ghz) and crashes more often when doing dirty dsp tricks:D

Don't know about the new NI sampler, it's supposed to have STS-5000-like qualities. Should be interesting....

I think it's probably not as creative as NI's Kontakt, but awesome regardless.

Don't particularly like the sf2 import capabilities of the STS range though.

I'll see whether I succumb to the STS5000 or not.

I have STS-5000 (bought the bungle - PulsarII classic + STS-5000 for as little as $850). Never used it before recently and even wished to sell it (Pulsar Purchasing section, heheh). Now I changed my mind.
For polyphonic playing I use my STS-3k and STS-2kP and even v2 modified Sample Player C. And STS-5k is used mainly for various interesting vocal processing with pitch-shifting, formant and auto-chord functions. So no huge polyphony is needed.

dxl: if you have little dsp you should lower the number of voices. If your CPU allows, try delegating simple effects to you ASIO software so there's more power for the fun stuff

The STS-5000 is mainly a creative sampler (although I really don't like the interface in many respects, making it much less intuitive than possible), so assign the voices you need and use a lower STS for the other voices, like Noctulius said.

You mean STS taking up too much screen space? I agree with that, but I find that true for many Creamware devices.... I'm considering upgrading my dual 17" setup to dual 19" or 21"
I'd really like to see Creamware making the devices resizable (like mousegrabbing the corner).... but I can image that this would require complete re-coding of the the OS. But still, an 'Emagic Logic-style' small, functional and resizable alternative Pulsarmixer (or other mixer) skin would be HIGHLY appreciated! Oops I'm getting off-topic...

I have the STS4000 and am not getting the STS 5000. I will get the STS6000 if it has some amazing features and if it isn't too expensive. Personally I feel Creamware would make much more money if they slash the prices. There is a lot of things I want to buy from the shop but refuse to because of the ridiculous prices. Especially considering they are selling it direct and with no marketing.

Tell me how they will make more money by slashing the prices? It'll probably turn out to the same amount. More buyers but less profit per sale.
Of course I wouldn't complain at all if they decided to slash the prices but I don't see it happening anytime soon, especially since there so little plug-in development so there's very little competition. Maybe if more good developers came on board with good plugins (of course there's already a few) then prices would fall.
