Hey guys i am planning to upgrade my studio, i have a pulsar 2 classic now and plan to get a newer system and an A16 ultra, (moving from sonar to logic) has also creeped in my mind as well).

Here is my question, what is the difference between getting a power pulsar and a full on scope. I want the best features i can get no doubt but if the only difference is something small then i am going with the power pulsar.

can someone one help me here and give me legitimate reasons to consider the scope. like i said i want what is helpful and necessary but 4,000 is a lot of money just for one extra feature

thanks

hi Samuel,

Well first, the hardware - SCOPE/SP comes with the SyncPlate, PowerPulsar does not. Other than that, it is the same 15 DSP board with the ULLI.

Then the software - if you check out the NAMM 2002 post in the Annoucement section of this site, you'll see that /SP comes with the biggest selection of software of any of the cards, making it a really good deal if you need that software. OptiMaster & PsyQ look really good, but I haven't had a change to play with them yet (but SOON). I'm thinking this would replace a tc electronics Finalizer in the rack... we will see.

I think either board is good though, 15DSPs is a really nice number. You use it in a different way than when you just have 6 or so DSPs, for sure. 16 voices on Prisma is possible realisitically.
