It's not such a complicated design, but simply BIG. There are filters all over the place. The main controls, like choosing which osc to use, are at the right hand side. Try out the noise (#4 on the switcher) on some drums. It totally kills.
The filters are tuned for voice, but since they seem to be well spread, it should work for most occasions.
Anyway, this isn't in a user-friendly state, but I hope you can make use of this. By the way, can anyone help with the single/poly setup cuz I don't really understand that bunch. Hence, this device is monophonic.
I can't believe I was dumb enough to hand code a vocoder.. heh.

i admire your amount of screen real estate
i'm in the process of building a rather large patch, and being on 17" monitor limited to 1024x768.....ugh!
i'll give it a try and post back. i really don't need a vocoder but implementing it as a modular patch sounds interesting if a bit overkill

but hey, doing things in different ways is what its about.

ken,
it won't load.
i remember hearing that v3 of cw software came with a slightly different version of the mod2, and the later version makes patches which are incompabtible with earlier versions....is this true, do you know?
hmm, this is going to be a problem if i want to be able to dl patches in the future. i have no intentions to upgrade for awhile.

If you're talking about the version that does the 8 out frame, yes I have that version. But I used the 4 out frame so it shouldn't be a problem I think... I dunno what the problem may be. So yeah, I have the v3 mod2.

could you zip or stuff the file? i am pretty sure i've downloaded unzipped patches before fine, but it might be the problem.
thanks

I updated the link to a zip file. Hope this works. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has this patch worked for anyone?

hmm, no difference. still won't load.
i think i'll email cw and ben walker over at the modular site to see if they know if there is an incompatibility of patches with the newer modular2 with the older version.
what i don't understand is why the mod2 was updated in regards to a new version of the software front end and not the mod2 itself...say mod2.1 or something. or am i missing something?

I'm not aware of any such incompatibility between the two versions - but I've moved on to 3 myself, so can't test this.
If I have time tonight I'll try loading the file in v3 to see whether it's a generic problem or not.

thanks ben.
i got around to emailing cw about it, i didn't get a chance to send you one. no matter you got the message.
i have come across a few other patches that wouldn't load, well 2 in particular that i remember. i think i got them from here, they are called; Bass Micro Synth V.1.mdl and Vintage Bass Synth V.1.mdl

i just exchanged a few emails with cw tech.
he didn't outright say "patches made in mod3 will not load in mod2, yes this is correct".
but it did sound this way. what he did say was that ALL the .mdl's for mod3 devices are different than in mod2, in what way i don't know. he also said the .mdl's in the patches are encrypted...i didn't quite understand where he was coming from or leading to with this.
i had given him the example that i could load a mod1 patch but have never installed version one of the modular synth. it may just be that while on the outside the mod1 and 2 look different the need ed resources were only added upon for the mod2, and thus are still availble for the mod1 to draw upon. now, i am only speculating....i initially thought that each mod patch was completely self-contained, but this can't be the case with any device in a creamware system, considering the vast bulk of supporting files installed.
earlier today i went through some patches i had dl'd and not tried. of course i found a few more which wouldn't load.
no worries, but maybe people should think about mentioning which version a patch is made on when they post.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I tested both 'coders on the weekend and they both load fine for me in 3.01 so it must be this backwards incompatibility thing you mention.
I liked the ModulaSinger, but found the ModulaCoder just a little too unwieldy to be useful! But I think you knew that would be the case anyway.
It was interesting to see the theory that's been discussed on the pulsar-scope list recently actually put into practice! Thanks for doing what I never had the patience to try !

Yeah, thanx for taking your time Ben. The concept is simple.. it's just soo much repetition and fine tuning... Oh well, it was more of an experiment anyway. :>
