Hi there averybody..
my first post in this super cool forum .. as i'm about to buy a Pulsar II I found here alot of great infos and resources, thx u all for this

Let's come to the point eheh
I need to know if the system I'm about to buy have problems or can improved in some way...

The specs of the PC :
-Mobo Asus P4B266 .....
-P4 2ghz Northwood
-1 Gb DDR ram (Crucial or Mushkin brand)
-1 HDD 40 gb IBM udma 100 (already own this, will use only for the OS and for the software and I'll partition it to have a partition with all the audiorelated OS and software and another one with general purpose and web design software)
-1 HDD 60 gb IBM (same hard disk as above, i really found this HD great  for audio only)
-Asus V7700 Deluxe Geforce2 (already own, will swap with a non matrox video card capable of dualhead in the near future...maybe geforce 4 or Radeon 8500)
-A silly 4mb Virgedx pci video card I use to connect my second monitor
-PCI Adaptec Scsi adapter ava2090
-Plextor plexwriter 8/20
-Plextor Ultraplex 40X (already have both the cd and the burner)
-2 AOC GLR 19" monitors
- Pulsar II
-Windows XP or Windows 2000 for audio ??? (I wouldn't like to use the 98se or Me...)

Now the hard part... as my budget is not that high and I don't want to buy the Luna box (try to persuade me that that little box is good  ), I pointed my eyes on 2 cheap AD converters with ADAT connection...
the Alesis AI3 and the Fostex VC8. What do u suggest ? Can they be plugged in the Pulsar without problems ? Is better the Luna Box or them ?
Then I need a midi interface (I use Logic audio platinum), I don't need 8 input/outputs as I have only 4 external synths and I see that emagic ships a midi interface called AMT4 ... Someone here knows if it has good midi timing or is quite the same thing to connect all my synths in a midi chain to the pulsar midi output ? (that's what i make now with my terratec card with not really great results in terms of timing...)

As speakers I ordered the Midiman Studiophile SP5.... the cheaper speakers that I found ... I hope that I won't eat my hands for this choice but I hadnt the possibility to ear em and focused only on some review I found on internet...

Sorry for the long post
Thx everybody and have fun with your pulsars eheh cannot wait cannot waaait !!!!

Hi Kurst
That's similar to what I'm planning. I'll let the brainier people here comment on the spec, but why do you specifically say non-Matrox video card? I thought they were Creamware's favourite.
Good luck!

I can comment on the Fostex VC8. Yes it will connect very well via ADAT to the Pulsar. It has RCA connections on the back to plug in your outboard gear. If you have sensitive ears you might not like it because there's a little background hiss that most people won't notice but I'm sure pros will. But it is the cheapest unit of those you mentioned so you can't complain too much.

The AMT4 is a very good device and is probably the cheapest thing you want to consider if all you have is four pieces of outboard MIDI gear. It has 4 MIDI outs but only 2 MIDI ins.

x dood :
I don't want to buy a matrox cuz i need to make even some 3d graphic on this pc and matrox 3d is very poor in comparison with the nvidia one...

x gregory :
maybe I can't neither read lol I thought i readed on the specs of the fostex that he had jack connections instead of rca... that's the same reason that bring me not to buy the luna box ... I really don't like rca

I think i'll go to alesis ai3 + atm4 midi interface ...

Anyone can comment the ai3 ????

Thx alot guys your help is very appreciated here

Have fun
