I need a very good reverb.I´ve tried
most of the available ones exept Timeworks for Pulsar,which seems not to be working with 3.x .I bought some and tried out the demos.The most convincing to my ear is PT 2036L but but my system can´t handle it for more the a few minutes (PCI bus overflow) inspite of my recent upgrade to TULS2c 1Ghz.
Well,the Masterverb and others are good and absolutely usable in many situations,but for mastering and really demanding purposes like acoustic piano and other acoustic instruments they don´t reach the toplevel in my opinion.
The ReverbX (directx) from Timeworks is my favorite softwarereverb,and I think it is
very sad if Michael Olsen ,the creator of the plugins from Timeworks ,is out of the Pulsar buisnes. Please come back and make us a superb reverb.Or maybe Creamware should be the those who deliver the ultimate reverb.

Have you tried some of the directX plugins? Like the Waves Trueverb, for example? Or maybe get some hardwaresolution? For my highest demands I use the Roland SRV3030d, connected to Pulsar via S/PDif... sounds really good and became IMHO well-affordable recently for it´s quality.

I don`t know about you guys but I am CRAZY about Logic`s Platinumverb!

Yes, i used the platinumverb alot, but when Masterverb was in my Pulsar, i changed my mind. I just put a flute or a Sax thru this verb and WOW!!!

Platinum is still pretty much usable with instruments, but the mixdown, Masterverb all the way for me!

I recently spend a (very long) day testing all the reverbs on my system.
This kind of tests is always VERY subjective. Ten's of thousands of people around the world enjoy their TC-reverbs every day, and I absolutely hate the sound of all of them.
And I've yet to come across a plugin that sounds as good as even the cheaper hardware boxes.

Here's the result of my SUBJECTIVE test:

1) Lexicon MPX-500
2) Korg Oasys PCI
3) SonicTimeworks Scope/Pulsar ProReverb
4) Creamware MasterVerb
5) Waves Trueverb
6) SonicTimeworks 4080L
7) Waves Renaissance Reverberator
Emagic PlatinumVerb

The Lexicon and Oasys are way above the rest, and are the only ones I use now for everything except for specialFX's and ambience.

I tested with drums, perc, lead/backing vox, strings & piano, and the list above is an "overall rating". But some of the algorithms would score higher on a drums/perc test only. (The PlatinumVerb for an exsample).

Yep, the MPX500 does fine. But I compared it directly to the Roland SRV3030d and the TC M-One, all connected via S/PDif, and IMHO the Roland did the job best...

I want to say about Hyperprism Hyperverb!
This one even better then Master verb,DSPDev proverb for my opinion. More clear and transparent.
What are you think?

I use a Lexicon MPX-500, and have to say that I couldn't do without it... it just got the best rooms and ambiences!

At the other hand, I know there are verbs that are a lot better (and also a lot more expensive) then the MPX-500 like Lexicon's PCM-91, Quantec YardStick, Yamaha SREV1, and the Sony DRE S777.

The last 2 ones being sampled (or convolution based) verbs (like Sonic Foundry Acoustic Mirror, but in a very expensive box), surely the way to go in room/space simulation.

Then again: If you don't have the money to spend on that kind of processors, go with the MPX-500, it's got the Lexicon sound, SPDIF + XLR I/O, good Midi parameter editing...

If your using a Mac (if not you should ) there is a reverb based on the same principle as the Sony dr 777.
It's called Altiverb.

It's not available for PC 'cause it needs a very powerful CPU. He he he !
I have'nt trued it yet as it is MAS only for the moment.
Other than that i really recommend the TC Megareverb.
So get a Protools or TC Powercore.

Actually i'm not convinced that Mac:s are faster than PC:s.
I have a Pentium 3/850 mHz as well and i believe that sucker is faster.
So don't feel too bad.

It was just funny to see that they claimed it could'nt be done on a PC.
And it was a long time since we had a flame war here,don't you think?

Well, I´ve tried a demo of the PT reverbs, and for me it was one of very best I´ve ever heard... I do have to mention that I´ve worked whith all of the harware units whith the exeption of "SREV1" and "Sony777". IMHO the PT reverbs does sound more transparent and colorates less, than all other software reverbs including the ones from Timeworks... The PT reverbs also have got a more modern sound than the L300/480! Keep in mind that the listener is not supposed to be able to detect the reverb, which is one of the deficits from lesser designs. The PT reverbs was one of the main reasons why I switched to the Creamware platform. Can´t wait to purchase the newer 3.x versions when availible...

I agree that some of the PT reverbs are absolutely "spitzenklasse" but which one(s) of the PT reverbs do you prefer Sunshine?
Lets hope that Paul soon will release the new ones.

I´ve only tried the greatest demo so far, that was availible at that time. As I wanted to purchase the plug, they weren´t availible anymore...

I´ve noticed that the majority has not worked whith the Grand Lexis, and also see in many other forums that there´s a lot of guessing going on... how they sound in reality. But there is no difference in quality between the PTs and the Lexis... And I´m talking about the L300/480! When you over-do reverb, by applying too much decay then the Lexis sound very large, but such a sound is practically unusable. In modern productions reverb does not colorate the sound! But how you apply reverb always depends on the application and many other variables... Yes, let´s hope they will be released soon.
