I wonder why the STS samplers don't have this feature?

I would think it would be pretty easy to implement.

My Emu sampler did this and the Halion software our studio guy at work uses does it very well. In Halion, it's shown directly in the wave edit display.

This makes looping so much easier.

Am I missing something here?

If you loop your samples in another program (wavelab for ex.) you can apply crossfade loopin there, so it is'nt necessary on computer based samplers.
