Follow-Up to Creamware CUTmaster or EasyCUT-XP?

Post by roeselpi »

hello there,

i am new to this forum, so i hope this is the right place to ask my questions.

a long time ago i used to work for a local production team that made radio programmes
for a local radio station in Germany.

in the beginning we still used professional tape recorders for recording and cutting of our
programmes but then came the digital future and we bought a PCI-Card and the
Creamware CUTmaster Software. Somewhere down the line we bought a PCI-Card and
the Creamware Tripple-DAT Software and last but not least we invested in the EasyCUT-XP
Software.

Whilst the negative thing about CUTmaster and Tripple-DAT was the PCI-Card and the
great thing about EasyCUT-XP was that you no longer needed a PCI-Card but it would
just run on your normal integrated Soundcard of your Computer or Laptop. It was great.

We mainly used the Software for Cutting Interviews and building our programmes on
between 2 and 4 tracks. We had the moderation and interviews on one track and always
underlaid it with soft volumed instrumental backgroundmusic (which at the time nobody
else did and was later copied by many others). furthermore we included songs that were
played in the programme on a further track sometimes with crossfades form the
instrumental backgroundmusic into the actual played song.

to get the instrumental music there was a lot of cutting and editing like for example
looping of parts of songs necessary. so sometimes we would end up with a short riff
from a song and would have to loop that part of the song 30 times for the length of
the interview.

it was all great fun and a lot of work back in the day. ... i really miss it.

cool features were that all the cuts and edits you made to music or interviews were
marked and you could undo each of them individually if you did not like the result.

once we had our programme finished we would master it onto a CD or onto a DAT-tape
and hand it in to our local radio station, who would then air it when at a specific time
and date.

now, easyCUT-XP did not have the CD-mastering feature and many other things were
missing as well, but you could export in mp3 or wav formats and thus still be able
to save onto CD or DAT-tapes.

---

i quit the job many many years ago and moved on in life. sometimes i find myself
still wanting to cut or change audio to my liking. doing things like speeding up
songs slightly (a great example: huey lewis and the news - hit me like a hammer).
if you speed that song up just a little it sounds better than the original. i do believe
that the radio stations all speeded that song up a fraction because when i bought
the CD back in the day, i do recall being annoyed that it was so slow and did not have
the upbeat like i remembered it from the radio.

any way, to make a long story short:

i am looking for a software that can more or less do what CUTmaster or Tripple-DAT
or EasyCUT-XP could do and here are the criteria:

1) No PCI-Card or other hardware required. just the software using onboard sound
2) Cutting and/or editing with individual undo functions
3) Looping marked parts easily when required
4) Speeding up or slowing down tracks or individual songs/texts/samples
5) Setting markers for mastering onto a CD
6) Mastering onto a CD using the Burner in the Computer
7) Possibly a possibility to add effects onto samples
8) At least 4 tracks to build a programme from individual samples
9) Skipping of marked Selection in a sample
10) Pre-listening feature for Cuts/Edits in Samples before the actual Cut/Edit is made

i guess someone might suggest freeware solutions like audacity but strangely enough
i did not get on with it very well. especially cutting and editing samples was not all
that easy like pre-listening to edits before you actually do the final edit. that was
in easyCUT-XP the include and exclude function. somehow i just did not get on with
that in audacity at all.

that is why i would begin my search for a follow-up here. i was given to understand
that scope integrated CUTmaster and all the other Creamware products into scope
but somehow i just can not find a screenshot that shows the cutter features in scope
and thus i guess asking the experts here might be a good move.

so, if you can help me with advice or information then please do not hesitate.

thanks & kind regards

roeselpi

edit: had to disable smilies for the post because 8) seems to create a face.

Maybe you´ll have luck here:
https://drenkelfort-audio.de/

It´s Holger,- the SCOPE mastermind, formerly Creamware and also running Sonic Core.
Check the products ...

I guess "TrackCaster" is it.

hello again,

thank you for this valuable tip. i do believe that looks almost like the original
CUTmaster (etc.) ... i did not know that there was a further follow-up company.

i think i will have to get in touch with them.

great. i guess that solves my problem easily. however i could not find
drenkelfort in my previous google searches when entering words like
creamware and cutmaster ... that never came up but i guess this
looks perfect and that might be exactly what i was looking for. thanks.

kind regards

hello again,

this is strange ... try this here:

https://drenkelfort-audio.de/index.php?id=680&lg=de

then try buying it:

http://www.sonic-core.net/shop/product_ ... aster.html
or german link
http://www.sonic-core.net/shop/product_ ... aster.html

both lead to the online shop of sonic core and all you get is this

"404
Ooops.
The page you were looking
for couldn't be found. Please
note that the website is still
under development and
content is coming soon.
Thanks for understanding."

very funny. ... but also a shame because other than writing them an email there seems to
be no option to be able to actually buying anything. ... this does seem odd or strange and
does not really make for high trust marks for a potential buyer. stuff like that should work
and there ought to be a list of payment acceptances to see how payment can be made.

furthermore i can not find any information if you receive only a digital copy or if you get
an actual physical CD/DVD for installation. has anyone actually bought this or has any
experience with the companies? are they trustworthy?

kind regards

Well, here are the CW and S|C Scope users and it´s not any companie´s support forum.
Almost no one is using "track caster" here.

The contact info in my post above is what I have.
When it doesn´t work currently,- not my fault.

You might try to write a message to Holger Drenkelfort using the Sonic Core support addy to get in contact.
And when he´s available, ask for the product you have in mind to buy.

good luck

:)
