We Triton guys have been downloading for over a week. Myself, on that JP site, took over 24 hours, if you can believe it.
One of the coolest new Triton sites in Sharp's from Ireland. I believe he put the download on his website.

I'm in Japan so I figured maybe I can download faster than most people but heck! This site only goes up to 6kb/sec max! sheesh!

I'm just wondering... are there any other sites like this?? (or maybe a starting link?) This whole 256MB piano sample business is totally new for me and I'm curious to check more of these non-percussion samples out. Using something other than my triton for melodic instruments could be fun.

How must I burn those files if I want to read them directly from my cd-rom into sts 2000?
By the way, from what source are those samples? Are they really free?

If they were placed in a public FTP I assume they are free. I had Cute FTP running and the site connected into a new window automatically so it`s safe to assume that there is no problem about acquiring these samples.

I've been experimenting with the huge steinway sample and it ROCKS! Though I couldn't get the 256MB one to conver right, I got the 136MB one to work. And I could only get the hard/soft versions to work. (rock just wouldn't convert) Anyway, these are veeery good replications of the steinway.. I had composition classes on the thing and I'm tellin' ya, the middle C area (the way it lacks high harmonics) is just the way I remember it! And how you can't max it out is also "sooo" steinway. Ya bang it, ya stand on it, and it'll give you that same melllow tone. Almost has that suitcase rhodes quality to it. Anyway, DEFINITELY worth a try if you're looking for some sweet piano sounds. (I converted it to soundfont format and I get mega polyphony)
Anyone want me to put it on my server?

Ken, did you buy the shareware? I ask because it says on the Awave site that you can't save "collections"(Does that mean multi-samples?)with the 30-day demo.

Hi, i got the same problem converting the piano, only the 136mb program has converted corectly, and i tryed with the latest CDXtract (3.6) and the latest Translator (2.5 build 18). I has able to download all the VOL1, and about half of them did not convert corectly... I think those sample are there for demos, cuz many program are empty, and it cannot be the fault of the converter, both CDXtract and Translator have the same result.

Some are VERY nice, in the directory VOL1/Percussion there is a African PERC zip, this is really sound very well indeed with a little masterverb!

And i found that the piano needed a little tweek with the filter, enveloppe (too much attack at low velocities). Try it with a negative value in the enveloppe1 and attack set at about 55... Pretty hot now!

So far all the samples work for me but I use the EXS24 through Logic.

Yes it does. The only work I have to do is set the velocities for the different layers.

Thanx to LHong, I used Awave to convert s5000 to s1000. The shareware only lets you do one instrument at a time. But all you have to do is quit the program and restart it to convert the next instrument. Quite tedious work. But conversion quality is almost perfect. (the key release gets sort of messed up)

OK! Just a word to tell you all that I was able to succesfully configure the Splendid Grand in the EXS24! Only thing is I think I need more RAM as the piano does tend to crackle.

Marcus, the files are essentially wavs so there is no problem for the EXS24 reading them.

Just out of curiosity, why aren't you loading them into STS?

And thanx to these samples, I think I'm going to get back to some piano playing.. phew, it's been a while. Gotta cut my fingernails! I'm using this sound on the department store project.. they got me doing redos.. yuck.

I haven't really had time to get into the ST-1000. The EXS didn't take so long to understand(as I'm sure you will tell me of the ST ).
I have such a back-log....

Actually, to tell you the truth, the EXS24 is a heck of a lot prettier to look at!

Thanks to LHONG and Kensuguro, i downloaded the AWAVE, and now i have the 256m grand in STS3000, WOW! And i also wonder how come i paid for those two and they wont work good

Well, awave did the job very good!
I'll write to CDXtract and Translator to tell them this, shame on them for now!

And Paul, i find STS3000 nicer, really
