Got my two Pulsar II cards installed, STDM cable set up, 5.1

Ok, so XTC mode failed spectacularly.

I installed with without the STDM cable, the system complained but the plugins instanced without sound using another audio device.

Then I attached the STDM cable, which thankfully someone from Ebay gave me with one of the devices, as well as a SPDIF cable (my other cable has AES/EBU connectors).

Once the STDM cable was attached, VST-IM did not work, no plugins could be instanced in Cubase 6.5.5 on Windows XP 32 bit.

Fine, I get that I am prevented from using the system in that way due to old VST technology (the system however became unstable and of course crashed with Serious Error and would not reboot at one stage).

Now I must use Scope mode, so here is my first question:

How do I use Cubase with it so I can instance other plugs, i.e. is it simply a case of using the ASIO driver for scope?

XTC mode works in Cubase 32bit.

there's a good chance that things aren't installed properly since you installed without an s/tdm cable.

in Scope mode, Cubase becomes a multitrack recorder in a room of gear. the audio i/o are the asio source and dest modules. the midi i.o for Cubase are the sequencer midi source and destination modules.

Hi Gary,

So to use VST-IM do I need to use the Scope ASIO driver?

I have 2 cards and I have no idea which is which, ie. what card has my outputs (RCA) because currently it is hooked up to consumer gear (I have a MIDI drum kit that I want to try with electronic sounds).

well, you'll be able to tell which is which by which one works.

for XTC mode, you have to set up everything correctly. yes, it uses asio, but Scope must be closed to use XTC mode. personally, if i could eliminate XTC mode altogether i would. it's stupid to force external hardware into the sequencer's mixer(imho)...

Thank you for hat information.

I have started reading that, as well as the hitfoundry website, however when I change the ASIO device, I get the message "XTC not installed properly, or STDM cable not installed".

Is that a result of changing the audio driver, since I don't get this when opening Scope Environment.

Thanks and regards

you cannot change the type of asio module or the number of ports on the module with the sequencer open. also, asio modules must match each other.
