eh, it's the same old place. we do shows there because it's close to everyone's homes. pay is ok for a bar and it's usually pretty full, so it's hard to screw up. we play there about once a month or a little less. i'll accept the luck though, even though skill should be enough to pull this one off. everything is always better with some good luck! i keep playing less and the band keeps sounding better...

shows are a double edged sword. on one hand, it's great to play music for others and with people that also like the music you do. on the other, it's a solid one hour setup and one hour tear down and all the crap needs to be loaded and moved from headquarters to venue and back. it's a lot of work. that means it's a hassle, then happiness for a while(when it can seem like the work is important), then the show's over and it's a hassle again.

Bung crap in bags and cases, fire them into the wagon, get to the bar, sorted!

the band is 5-7 pieces. pa, lights, bass rig and guitar rig are mine to deal with.
everything is in packs and neat, it just takes time to setup and plugin. at least the gear is always the same and i know how to wrap cables, so everything is easy to work with. it's two small mains and a pair of monitors, 3-4 vocal mics and stands, 1 drum mic, a guitar mic(i use a timy 15watt practice amp like this) and 2 keyboard line ins. also there's an SPD11 running line in.

the good thing is that it's always the same everywhere we go, a little minor adjustment and it's on.

extension cables and guitar cables in one bag, stage tape, mics and mic and speaker cables in a case, Mackie 808s in a case, mic stands in a bag, mic stand bases for the 2 short stands and 2 straight stands in a bag, guitar stands in a bag, bass and guitar in hard cases, effects pedals on a board in a softcase, speaker stands in a bag and of course the 4 speakers, the little guitar amp and it's ready to roll except for my wife's pig of a bass rig. the bass amp is the hardest work it's two Boogie Road Ready 15" cabs with JBL D140s(these boxes have anvil style covers for the speakers) and a Boogie Bass400+ all tube head in a 4 space rack. the bass rig is heavy...sounding...

i can't pare it down more than that...

Me, my two basses, pedal board, line selector, and amp, and I'm motoring. So I have time to help out the drummer...
Guitarist looks after guitar and mic stuff.
We would usually use the house PA and lights, cause we don't have ones of our own...

i use the house pa sometimes, but often my own is actually easier.

That is a cool Bass rig though, but Anvils..? My God they were thousands of dollars way back when we used a Yahaha Grand and had to seperate the Harp using 2 x Anvils that costed well over 3500+.
But 5/8 or 1" plywood is the very best protection, no bout adout it.

not Anvil cases, the cabinet is similar in style to an Anvil case.
