Hello,

I have difficulties with a new (second hand) ada8000 in adat with my pulsar scope v5.1.
I connected the 2 cables but in the STM1632 I see only the channel where my microphone is in ada8000 input but the output of STM doesn't move & no sound ... and after a few time there are full meters of craquels on all adat channels, it seem like very unstable. The optical cables seems to be very old ... so Do I have to buy new cables ?

first of all you'll have to set the Sync and master/slave relationship of the device - or did you ?
go to the samplerate control panel
if Scope is master, the sync radio-button should be set on that Adat port, where the Ada8000 is connected
the Ada8000 should be set to slave in this case and sync to Scope
(iirc the default clock source is s/pdif)
or you set the converter to master and slave Scope to it
(sorry if stating the obvious...) ;)

cheers, Tom

If after all that there crackles still, blowing the ADAT ports with compressed air has been known to improve some issues.

Sorry I'm tired these days I'll retry this weekend.
Scope is in master ada8000 slave I see the connector led at adat A.
I cleaned with a vaccum but only adat A,
Do you think if adat B is with dust that it can disturb the other connector ?

if Scope is master, you need a cable to the in and the out....

Yes I have in and out for scope adat A.
And 'sync' to 'adat in' on the ada8000.

Also try making the ada master and slave the pulsar to it.

I leave scope in master and ada8000 side in slave with sync to 'adat in' . I cleaned again all the in and out with vaccum and now It works ! but ...

after 3 minutes : there is a Desynchronization and
(idem in ada master - scope slave)

did you try the other set of ADAT ports?

have you tried other cables?

if you have done these things and nothing helps, then it's probably the ADA8000 that has a problem. what you are trying to do has no tricks. it works or it doesn't. other than trying other ADAT equipped hardware there's not much else left to do.

i have seen strange behavior when a project gets corrupted. a fresh project would prove or disprove the theory...

Thanks Gary, yes I'll try the other port maybe more stable.
I just purchased new cables, now I know that it can work.

New Cables = Heaven !!! Thanks Gary :)

I must use port A for inputs and B for outputs on pulsar because the bases of the cables are too big :D and the patch in the middle take all the place.
