Attention:
Seems Intel Ivy Bridge Rev. E1 is 95TDP,- not 77TDP !
There were several different labeled retail boxes found meanwhile.
Here´s the article in german.
Sorry,- didn´t find any english equivalent.
They say it could be a fake but because there were several boxes found they think it´s not.

Could be it doesn´t work well, especially not if the Intel i7 Ivy Bridge run hotter than expected and advertised.

Here´s the alternative,- Scythe Big Shuriken:

You´d be able to replace the 120mm fan by any other of your choice for more optimization.

Yep, good luck and please let us know.
A 1HU solution is very interesting,- OTOH,- 2HU would be more safe eventually.

I have an ancient old H & S Case and Anvil version too.
I have had these since we were using McIntosh 2500 Watt Tube Power Amps. Still have the power amps and they work perfectly well with their Orange glowing tubes. Bought those used in 1981.
Thanks for Ivy Bridge Tip. That will be the last piece of the puzzle and the choice of the Asus was made solely on thier parallel RAM trick which has even Intel shocked.
The X79 Qaud RAM seemed to excell in synthetic benchmarks but not in real world.
Perhaps the Asus Hyper RAM trick might work.....
I have already installed all 4 x storage devices and they kick major booty.

thing with 1u boxes. you need 1u fans. they sound similar to formula 1 cars.

True, but it shall sit at the top of the 4Us interior, thereby getting plenty of space between the slanted top, and above the CPU, Supermicro has a Grilled/Grove design that sits above the CPU. I could use the 1U HSF, but supposedly the Supermicro guy in Freemont says they run clusters of AMD Blades using Passive cooling and their wattage is twice as much as the Ivy Bridges.
The Icy Docks drives suck in air and kick it straight out the back, and the CPUs heat will rise, as an in Nature.
Fingers Crossed.

your xite itself makes quite a lot of heat though, and it will rise in to the computer, so your cooling is going to be a bit more complex. my xite sits by itself on a shelf, and i even raised it so air could flow around the bottom of it.
mind you i think supermicro is probably the most trustworthy of all PC companies, and if they say it will work then it probably will.

The XITE-1 also will have a space above and below on the backside of the 4U Case.
That sucker is hotter than a whorehouse on dollar day.
