Pitch Analysis

Is there anything available that can.....

Okay, I admit to using loops in Kontakt in some tracks so I don't have to come up with my own ideas (please don't ban me from the forums 'cos it isn't very often)

If it is a melodic loop I want to try and analyse the pitch of a chord. Usually I just loop the chord in Cubase & activate another track in Cubase (say piano or omnisphere). The next phase then is to recreate it in say Omni and then start getting my own creative juices flowing...

Sometimes though you can only get close with the ear, especially if the sound is a trancey gated chord where the oscs have been detuned a bit. The loop may say i.e: A F Gm Eb but in reality the notation is nothing like.

So is there any software that can analyse a chord or a snapshot of a wave file and determine the various pitches/frequencies as a chord?

Probably just another one of my odd questions ........... the medication isn't working again :-?

Glad to see you, having time to do music, I wish I would have time too.

Melodyne seems to be the leader of what are you looking for.
There is a trial version on their side, I would suggest to read about melodyne, watch some videos etc. before you decide to get it.

It can do much more then you need, so it is probably the wrong product. I don't know, but maybe there is a small tool in their product line for analysis only.

BTW: Maybe Gustav can help you too on that.

cheers

Hiya Chris - it's a bummer having to work isn't it?
How are you doing with Xite or don't you have time for it? I've been expecting new albums flying out of Bayern for weeks
:D

Thanks for the heads up on Melodyne - I'll do a bit of research.

Gustav is a really good guy isn't he? :)
