WD-40

has anyone used it effectivelly in any musical gear?..mixer faders or contacts??
there has been much discussion on the web about it and that it will destroy..the faders of a mixer for instance... some old school technitians use it in older audio equipment.
i am not sure my self.
just i used it in my master volume fader on a samson mixer... and seems more effective than any other contact spray i have used.
ps. i have not used the well known deoxit series though....

NO!!!
brings more dirt, ruins many faders.
NO!!!
clean it with a commercial contact cleaner quick!

Do NOT use it on music gear. Ever. Never.
WD-40 is a grunge COLLECTOR.
It's only good for old cars.

yes! that's a great product, but i like to use a cleaner first, then a smaller amount of Deoxit, since it's expensive.

deoxit 5 seems to be the one.... and expensive....yea..
but there are many different types of caig products and very specialized as i can see in the official site,
which is kind of confusing for which to buy as a cleaner first...(necessary 100% for removing every experimental materials(WD40) i have put) before applying the deoxit 5
advice needed..please

the D5 spray is the stuff to get. it comes in a 5oz(200ml) aerosol with a tube for getting the solution where it needs to go.
use a cleaner like this first:

the D5 solution has a deoxidizing agent, a protectant, and a lubricant, so after you use the cleaner, you would use a small amount of the D5. for really dirty pots, contacts or switches, you can just use the D5 alone.
