Hi,

Just been recording an input from a CD player into Scope via the ADAT A source modules in my project - It could just as easily been a hardware keyboard.

Got some audio recorded no probelm but do have a question about feeback - On Cubase 6 on an audio track there is a little button/switch for monitoring which I pressed and got a horrible noise thru the speakers -- obviously this is feedback of some sort but I don't understand exactly what has happened which is why I ask here.... .......very basic question I know but one that needed asking.....

I do have another audio interface which is more basic on another PC seperate to Scope and I've done the same with a more basic version of Cubase and I monitored the signal without any bad noise/feedback.....though the Edirol isn't as nice as my Scope ........ .....

I think I'm clear on this....hopefully anyway.....

I don't need to press the monitor button in Cubase for my Scope......maybe I was actually monitoring the signal twice or trying to by doing this and thats why the feedback occured becuase it was already being monitored in Scope - Is this correct?

if you monitor the Scope mixer, there's no need to monitor THROUGH Cubase, no?

Yes I agree with you but I am no expert which is why I make mistakes......

I look at the meter in Cubase to see what the value is at the input channel eg. -2db / -5db but I do not need to press the monitor switch in Cubase to do this and if I do I get the noise/feedback because it is also trying to play back the monitored signal as well as record on the channel intended for playback -- anyway I think I'm straight on this now so on to the next thing.......

You could route the output of the cubase audio track, where you track you instrument or CD, to another output than ASIO 1+2 (Cubase Master). No feeback anymore.

I will look into this and see what I can come up with............
