OK - I fucked up and need help now :)

In my attempt to get the best PCI performance out of my "new" system, I updated the bios and chipset drivers of my motherboard and actually managed to load 12 MV's after the update. Before the update I could only load 7 - so far so good.

In the device manager I could see that I had a "High Definition Audio Controller" (the onboard audio card) sharing an IRQ with one of my Creamware cards:

Fueled by my recent succes I decided to try to "disable" the device. I was warned that it would stop working if I did it, but I thought to my self that I could always "enable" it again. The device disapeared completely from the list.

I then checked if I could load even more MV's, but no luck, so I decided to enable the recently disabled "High Definition Audio Controller", but now I can't find it again!?

So the question is, how do I enable a device which I have disabled in windows 7?

scan for new hardware?

it should be in the device manager under sound and game controllers or multimedia with a red "x'" by it. right click and choose "enable".

Scanning for the device didn't help me, and I couldn't find it under "sound and game controllers or multimedia" - Eventually I found it under "System Devices", and everything is working again :)

Thanks Gary - you got me on the right track there :)

I'd rather be happy if it stayed where it was forever...
