masterverb test on 1366 chipset??

can anyone report some masterverb test on 1366 chipset MoBo??
from the masterver thread there's some confusion, so i decided to start a new topic.

on my gigabyte ud4 with just one scope 14 dsp i can load 6-7 masterverb, which is crap. no optmization worked in raising the benchmark, and i can use only 2 slots on the three present on the MoBo.
i cannot even load the new SC Plate and ambient reverbs.

i'm currently looking even to a 2xpci slot 1366 mobo which can perform a good masterverb test.

the asrock x58 supercomputer is the only other candidate with 3 pci slots but i cannot find info on that (there's another thread open for this one!)

thanks!

I will make a masterverb test once the PCIe to PCI active adapter arrives.
Maybe it changes the game completely - wouldn't hold my breath on it, tho... :D
From theoretical data rates it's a no-brainer, but who knows what's inside PCI protocol - in particular timing...
We (most of us ?) currently assume that the flaws are based on resources granted (by mobo/bios), but it could as well be the handling of the 'classic' protocol itself.
As I have a really bad PCI performer with just one classic slot, I could use the extender anyway and wouldn't mind the 50 Euro.

cheers, Tom

Hey Bosone

No one has replied to my thread about the Asus P6X58D-E so i'm presuming no one is using that MoBo with scope.

I think I'm gonna take the plunge on it so I'll report back on the Masterverb test.

Dont hold your breath though - im in UK and the CPU is coming from USA and only ordered it yesterday so not sure how long it will take? I'll be building my system as soon as it arrives though so I'll perform the test straight away.

Take it easy
R

well, today I received a phonecall that the mysterious PCIe adapter thingy touched down at the PC seller, will pick up tomorrow :D
I will check it with the Asus P8P67-M, which won't go beyond a 4th Masterverb (using Scope 5.1 in 64bit)

cheers, Tom

I dont have access to my scope cards until Jan  otherwise I would've tested this by now as I have the new PC using the Asus P6X58D-E

Im not liking how close the pci and pcie slots are though and despite getting a "1 slot" watercooled GPU specifically to fit in with the scope cards, im annoyed as it looks like it encroaches too much and one of the 2 PCI slots might be unusable.

Scope Pro has chips on both side doesnt it? Could very well be screwed if thats the case.

look, the PCI bus on motherboards with the latest processors(sockety 1155) are all garbage. the manufacturers do NOT expect you do do anything important with the PCI bus. socket 1156 motherboards are acceptable, socket 1366 are similar, some working very well, some only acceptably. socket 775 motherboards work very well to excellent. that's just how it is. there's nothing to be done. the PCI slot is going away....

but using the pci/pcie adapter, will you be able to link a scope on PCI and one on PCIe?
or do you need two PCIe adapter to run 2 scope boards?

i seriously doubt if that will work, or help.

you're smart Gary... adding the '... or help' exclusion

in fact it DID work, it even worked quite well - but didn't really help with PCI bandwidth... :D
the error came up reliably with the 4th Masterverb, but it seemed to recover much better from the retry dialog box.
Which was also reflected in the DSP load window.
I would say it got from 3 to 5 Masterverbs which is a nice percentage, but useless nevertheless.
And I could crash it with a blue screen when adding devices to that project and clicking the retry button a couple of times.
So you can safely file this as 'nonsense', nice try tho...
before I forget:
it's total sh*t having the card balance on that tiny slot piece, as it didn't fit with the metal frame (for half height stuff). :o :D

cheers, Tom

:D

so it goes with an educated guess....
