Ok... So I might soon upgrade my computer.
I am planning on only using intel motherboard/CPU
Thinking about an i7 CPU...
Any chipsets/boards I should avoid for scope pci card use?(don't want the "pci capacity limit reached":)
I'll mostly be running xtc mode.. I have had problems before with some motherboards.. If you do heavy automation in xtc mode, the computer crashes.

I'll need 2 pci ports
and of course PciE ports
Firewire would be nice:)

Any specific motherboard suggestions?
And I don't plan on going 64bit.
... I actually dont know what the benefits would be... What would they be?
I don't use any samplers with huge libraries..
The only thing I might try out that is a ram stealer, is nebula...

Can't help you out with a MOBO for what you need as I am on XITE-1 nowadays, but you are right about NEBULA.
It is RAM and CPU hungry.
I use it and its great as far as I am aware it unique and worth it.
I think you should consider 64Bit (and I like Win 7 a lot) to get a reasonabe amount of RAM.
This is to some extent future proofing anyway as Apps are getting fatter and more bloated now developers have the tools to go that way.

in general, i prefer intel motherboards. they almost always work, even though they're not as good for gaming and other things that might require overclocking(i prefer stability) and they're not as feature packed as some(most never use the sexy features on gaming boards). if i was getting an i7 machine, i might consider an older 1156 motherboard, it'll be much cheaper and likely be plenty powerful, plus it's easier to find 2 and 3 pci slots. i think i'd avoid sandy bridge processors as i don't think they're really ready for audio yet.

I don't think I'll be going 64bit yet. It seems to me that things are to unstable still.. And I'd have to get the paid scope upgrade as well.. I'm actually thinking of stayin with win xp even:) but we'll see..
