i think it would work, and that it would be relatively cost efficient.
you'll certainly have some usb controllers(at least) to disable, but that's how things are in the computer world these days.

i will just need a firewire expansion card to connect my videocamera and dont' worry... i know that i will have to disable evrything is not needed for the audio system!

it sucks, I've tested one in May (there's a thread further down...)
I'm not sure if some of the mess related to a misplaced internal USB header (though nothing was connected irc), but even after sorting things out and the usual tweaks it had a horrible PCI performance.
One slot shares with the graphcard, and onboard video is crap - compared with an 865 onboard graphic from the PIV ages I'd even call that part of the mobo a piece of sh*t, really...
Definitely not the Intel I expected

no, i said NO 1155 motherboard will have good PCI performance.
the PCI bus is just tacked on to the PCI-e bus.
what's wrong with a socket 775 or 1156 processor?
